inquistive

more visual can be useful for musicians, air traffic controllers and many things by seeing everything in the screen.. no problem!

Pfft. If I could easily remove the toothpick from his mouth, take pictures of him, and pull covers off of him all while he was STILL soundly asleep...

one more thing before you take a picture of him, put a very very red lipstick and black penicil on upper above of the mouth like mariyn moore's style mole. then there you go.

People assume that hearing people would have a difficult time. But.. really? Nowadays? With internet, texting, CC, Powerpoint, and so on? Things are more visual than one would think. The shock would wear off within a week, especially when EVERYONE is deaf. Hearing people have a hard time with it when they lose their hearing only because it's still a hearing world.

 One of those dead to the world sleepers, huh?

That's a valid point.:hmm:

I go out to dinner, and just hand my written order in, and the restaurant staff does not look taken aback.

It is now the standard mode of restaurant communication.

They make less mistakes also.

I do wonder what mode of communication would they eventually use. ASL, PSE or SEE :D

Not text or computers etc. Rremember... devices like that breaks down, then what?? Like a CI or Hearing aid.. So they will need a method of communication besides electronics.

Air is the only reason sound waves travel. The reason there will be NO sound all is no air. :cool2:

Right. That is why there is no air in outer space; therefore, no sound exists there.

What bewilders me is the Star Trek, Star Wars and space-based movie used sounds in space.

I remember I read some articles a long time about George Lucas, a creator of Star Wars. One astrophysicist wrote a letter to tell him that there was no sound in outer space after watching Millenium Falcon roaring with a sound of whoosh!.

Actually, there IS a good reason for this.

Imagine... watching Star Wars, and you see lasers and explosions and all that jazz and you hear.... silence.

What happens? Easy. Hearing people will start yelling out "The audio doesn't work!"

What fun is a movie with out sound effects??

Sure it is always cool with sound effects in movies but sometimes they have to be realistic.

I like to be vibrated when the sounds come out in movie theatre. :)

you can add the vibration without sound in movie anyway.

I got so used to using CC on TV that I don't even turn the sound up anymore. Drives my hearing friends crazy!:laugh2: They say, "Your son isn't here! Turn that shit off!":laugh2:

At home in the afternoon I tend to turn the sound off on the TV.. My hearing aids are out and I sit and watch. My SO will walk by and steal the remote and turn it up. LOL

At first my SO would ask me how in the heck can you watch TV with out the sound and read the CC.........After a year of being with him..I catch him all the time watching TV with out the sounds.

Now at a movie theater.. I want SOUND! :) It is what makes it fun! The sound, vibration. Adds to the hype.

I like the surround sound at a theatre, too. I experience sound very kinesthetically, and depending on the pitch I will feel the vibration in different parts of my body. I think that made it a lot easier for me to understand how the deaf perceive sound most of the time.

So if the world did come without sound.. Deaf people would be affected along with everyone else.

No sound..... no vibration.

You know, I didn't consider that! You are absolutely correct. :ty:

See there, my hearing perspective still trips me up sometimes, lol. I can't understand hearing people that swear they never have an audist thought.
