Unless there are just no sound waves to transmit. Or maybe everyone just went deaf all of a sudden. Kind of like the rapture, lol. Hearing people saved from the tradgedy of hearing.

Naw. You would choose to, because the Deaf people I know are generally more considerate and kind hearted than the hearing people I know. Of course, there are one or two exceptions, but not enough to make a difference.:P

Frisky, have you ever read José Saramago's Blindness? A mass epidemic results in a city of people who suddenly go blind, and there's a total breakdown of social order, government, commerce, nearly everything turns to chaos. Would be interesting to play that out with deafness instead.

grendal, no i have not . I will check it out. Perheps, the deafies are willing to take over the government all like that under the control, just like back to normal while hearies can recover from getting use to NO sound.

More than likely, the "hearies" would freak out if there were no sound....everything would have to be "visual"....

Is sound really necessary? I can think of many situations where if there was no sound, it might be very dangerous....such as plane traffic in the air (we would not need air traffic controllers).....or severe weather situations....

Musicians would be out of a job....we would have to teach our animals sign language (?)....

Inasmuch as we deafies like to be independent....there are times when a hearie can be of help to us (?)
