India, China won't sign Copenhagen Accord

you're very lucky to get a clap from me because my secretary usually claps for me. when I clapped for you, she fainted.

Be careful what you wish for. I got the clap from my PA.......damn Christmas parties

Implication of their actions? What? Like Earth will boil over because they didn't sign the accord or what?

the destruction of their own countries. ever seen pictures of it?

disgusting

If you're talking about regional and local pollution problems, sure. Unless you are also inferring about the "coming disasters from the effects of rising CO2 concentration"?

well I don't know about you but these are a pretty goddamn huge countries. Their impact is pretty strong.

Didn't you know that heavy smog from China frequently hit USA? especially your home state?

I've known that for years. Soot and other particulates can be found in the snow high up on mountain tops came from China. Even once in awhile a dust storm there would bring sand/dust over here that get captured by a prevailing jet stream.

Yup, thank so much for most important link.

Time for China and India to fix it on pollution issue or we should get away from investment in China.

I'm not overly concerned about pollution since we went through the same thing ourselves where we gain alot financially but took a toll on our environment. It took our own local grassroots to try and stop these air pollution. And since then we've improved dramatically but still have some problem areas but nothing like the 50s, 60s, 70s and into the 80s. China and other countries will face those same issues while they reap in the money will their own local grassroot organizations grow due to health concerns and such and that China will slowly but surely invest in cleaner and more efficient means of operating their plants.

We did our thing. They're doing theirs now.

so where did most of particulates and soot come from - originally? and what are those particulates you speak of?

We *owe* China over $1 trillion dollars from borrowing money from them. Rather it's that China has invested in the U.S. dollars and our companies (e.g. buying up the Hummer company). I believe China has now a bigger leverage against the U.S. when it comes to money and certain investments.

It means you don't care about pollution? Pollution does harm to our health and very bad for people with asthma so China need impose the pollution control to protect the human's health that put in serious dangers.

I'm not happy about LA got very nasty pollution due from China and Angelenos aren't happy about pollution got worse again, despite about improvement in 1980's and 1990's. Now, I live in rural area in east coast with fresh air.

I don't support economic expanding in China until they take care of pollution and human rights, even are you happy with communist China government?

I care. Just that we went through the very same thing and it took local grassroots organizations to change our pollution laws. It didn't take a foreign country to try and somehow stop our own polluting ways by making demands. There are already developing grassroots organizations in China who are trying to get China to stop or reduce their pollution levels that are impacting their own Chinese citizens.
Environmental Activism in China

Let the locals do the work to help clean up their own pollution....not us or from other countries.

China is expanding because they make our products for us that get sent back to us and our companies sells them because labor is cheaper over there and at the same time we buy China's products as well (i.e. "Made in China" label).

I know, we don't need more pollution law in US because our pollution law is enough so time for China or India to fix it.

Do you like any stuff that made in China? eek.... not me...

I bought stuffs that made in US like my blue Halo USB flash.

Also, hate to say, China won't care about pollution.

local grassroots organizations? in China? lolololol good luck. Remember Gao Zhisheng? Chen Guangcheng? and thousands more....

It was possible here to change things because we have something called Democracy and Constitution. I don't think those 2 concepts are somewhere in a communist country.

Remember, we were in that very SAME boat as China 40 to 60 years ago. That wasn't a long time ago. Many people in the U.S. as a whole didn't really care if we were polluting ourselves to death. But it gotten to a point when it was just too much and that's when environmental activism began to help clean up after ourselves. China is going through a growing phase and they'll have these growing pains as well (e.g. pollution) and they'll eventually pass their own pollution laws with the help of their own citizens.

We all want clean air, water and land. Give China and other countries time to clean up their own act.

Mexico is fast growing country but pollution is much lower than China because Mexico has strict pollution control so kudos to Mexico.

No, I wouldn't accept if air quality goes unsafe, I'm worrying about LA because that where my parent is currently live in and when pollution in China become much worse and worse so it could make air quality in LA goes bad so that put humans in dangers, don't say any word about pollution is cheap or harmless to me because I know that you made stupid post, no offense.

China should follow about what Mexico is doing, China CAN do it but would be VERY HARD due China is communist country and don't give a fuck about pollution issue, trust me unless there's revolution against communist government.

You are out of the loop. These things start out small as concerns reaches more and more people, and that more people get educated about their own environment and how it can impact their health. Nothing to do with Democracy or the Constitution.

Good thing I book marked this a while back. Better read and get up to speed.
