If you ever took a cross-country car trip.....

My ex husband took a 2 week road trip when our daughter was 18 months old (in 1998). We started from Phx AZ all the way to NYC, Niagra Falls and then back to AZ. We stopped at Cleveland (to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Football Hall of Fame), went to Washington DC, NYC, stopped at PA to see my best friend, drove to Niagra Falls). On the way back, we went more south...to see the site of the Oklahoma City bombing, Graceland, Santa Fe, and then back to Phx. It was great.

I would love to take a road trip with our RV all the way from here in MD to Maine to camp in the beautiful mountains of NH, Vermont and Maine.

what an amazing trip, Shel! wish sometime to do something like that!

my aunt and her husband moved from San Jose, CA to Wilmington, N. Carolina for her husband's job relocation. They drove with some of their stuff, some stuff went to storage, a lot was sold. Then, maybe 3 years later, they moved back across country, same way, returning to CA, Central Valley area.

I've never been to Oregon state but would like to visit there.

I've been to the Dells- fun for kids, people really into water and tourist-y things but I don't know how much I'd enjoy today. Some of the actual landscape around there is pretty cool, though.

Door County is beautiful...my aunt, her husband, me, folks and my hub all went there a few years back together. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast Inn place and took the ferry across to Washington Island.

I love traveling and would like many different road trips.

Yea, it was a great experience! I came up with that idea after my best friend moved to PA from AZ in 1997. I was lonely for her and wanted to visit so I thought why not take a road trip? I was working as a teacher's aide and had the summer off and my ex husband had enough vacation from his job.

Yes, Door County is beautiful. Hubby was stationed at Sturgeon Bay for a couple years while his ship was being constructed. He rented a log house in the woods of Egg Harbor. Our daughter and I were able to join him one year from May thru August. We rode our bicycles all over Door County. That have a delicious cherry festival there.

Shel, do you have any favorite or special things about that awesome trip?
So cool that you were all able to go together! If you went today, would you do anything different?

Reba, log house in the woods sounds really cozy for you and your hubby and biking would certainly be a great way to see all those "hidden" places you miss sometimes if you travel another way. Whenever I think of Door County I think of how both how charming and scenic it is, the different colors of the water and how those little towns like Egg Harbor all have different "flavors" to them.

We wanted to do some of the typical Door County things <fish boil, cherry festival> on our trip but just didn't get to them.
