I declared my major yesterday. It is Speech Pathology.

It is Speech Pathology.
Cool....but I hope you're going to be one of those cool speech therapists who use every and anything, rather then just hyperfocusing on trying to get kids to function in a "normal and healthy" way. Some of the speech therapists out there....I'd like to strangle....they insisted that speech was the only way, and the only way to suceed was through speaking. Speech gives me a good tool, but it does not make me equal to hearing people. I will never be able to speak as well as a hearing person.

Awesome! That's good. You did what many other students can't do... decide on a major. :)

I am studying to be an audiologist! I feel I can bring my experience as a person with a mild loss.

Would you talk to my family? They still believe I should be able to speak perfectly. I'm still "corrected" in public for mispronouncing things.
OK...I will....Seriously that is yet another reason why I am against oral-only....the CONSTANT emphasis on perfect speech just does the biggest number on a person's self esteem! I still am incredbly self-conscious about my voice.....My family does not correct my speech but, it's become a family joke....since I tend to pronounce things phoneticly.
