Husband hacks to death deaf and dumb wife, daughter - Newindpress.com

A 22-year-old deaf and dumb woman and her three-year-old daughter have been hacked to death allegedly by her husband at Kurumpatty village in this district.

The bodies of Anuradha and her daughter Deepa, with their throats cut open, were found last evening in a bushy ditch near the village following which her husband Chinnasamy(40) was arrested, police said.

Chinnasamy had entered into a wedlock with Anuradha following pressure from the village elders four years back after he raped her, they said.

The elders had pronounced that Chinnasamy, already married and having two sons, should marry and give her one acre of land.

There were frequent quarrels between the couple and recently Anuradha left his house and was staying with her father, police said quoting village sources.

On October 12, Anuradha and Deepa went to rear cattle in their land and did not return. A search by villagers ended when they found the bodies in the ditch, police added.

What torture to that poor woman - First to be raped then forced to marry the rapist and then to be demeaned and belittled until he finally killed her - Sheesh!

In a country that allows polygamy, and forces rapists to marry their victims, I don't think we should be surprised that they still use the term "deaf and dumb".

"Deaf & Dumb" means can't hear and can't talk. "Dumb" not mean "stupidly or not smart." Some deaf ppl misunderstand this word.
 
The story made me feel sick in my stomach :cold:

Glad that I don't live in these kind of countries that practice this kind of marriage and also use the words "deaf and dumb". I am sure that they are not educated to know that the word "dumb" is offensive.

I disliked the word Deaf and Dumb.. :rl: WE may be deaf but we are not dumb! jeez!

But but the word "dumb" used to describe a deaf person is way OUTDATED! Yes, that word does mean stupid.

It seems like the hubstand didn't see the deaf wife as a person, but just a thing to have sex with and then after being forced to marry her, saw her as no fun anymore. Those elders need to learn a lesson too.:mad::crazy:
