Don't get wrong idea... I said ONLY idiots, it does not mean you! I have seen video of a guy who actually jumped off from car that went 20 mph... he tumbled for about 100 yards!!!! Ended up in hospital. Alot of broken bones.
Forgive my boyfriend here, even thou I love him, He is just trying to be blunt honest. 
Well, I had bad brakes to tell you the truth, I had a hard time stopping, I wouldn't jumped out of the car or even put my leg out of the car, I'll stay in and if I had no brakes, I would just run over onto the grass into the dish. If that's the only way my car would stop.

I love my smart baby!!! Your right, Im just being blunt because jumping off the car when its in motion is really the most stupidest stunt! OFC the idea may be great, but once you get out of the car there is nothing to protect you like in the car!

then why did you advise people to stick their legs outside the door of a fast moving car? That never will work !!!! Follow the the advice of the "Popular Mechanic " magazine and if you have to jump & roll into a curl , do so at your own risk.
The another idea of going off the road into a field to slow the car also is a good idea.
The another method is to go into a field then keep going into a spinning circle until your car runs out of gas then get some help. Do not start the car & get it towed by your family or friends or if you have money then a tow truck and get the car looked at and fixed. If the garage says it is time to get a new car then you will have to do that. ( for safety reasons, of course )

Hey diehardbiker65, damn it , I got a tear my both eyes and remind of when i was young....
when i got seprated from my asshole husband, i asked him to make sure check out my car like ( transmission fuild , etc ) and he said yes there are everything are fine... i drove on highway and i felt funny that the brake is not working at all so i decided slow down and pulled off the highway and watched the car wont come on me and i cann t stop and it is not working and i keep going to drive then turn left and i didnt know that the car behind me .... so the front of car just already stopped sign and i tried to take off the panel and started slower and the back car start horned on me but i can t hear the horn was beep so i can see thru the mirror and the man ( back ) showed and said come on beep at me and i started ingorced and my second daughter sat front of chair and she is only 2 months old and sat on carsit ... and i started cry and pray that my baby wont hurt so i decided to open the door and the feet tried stopped on floor and i felt my toes already cuts and teared my big fat toes s nail off and second and third tooo and big cuts on bottom of feets....and broke ankle... the car wont stop and even only less than 5 mph and it is not WORKING... i decided drove off the bigggg ditch on right sided and almost hitted the eletric pole and i finally stand up and got hurts my feets and the back of car man chased me and followed me and i found out that he is cop and he just get out of his work and unformed clothes... he walked and ask me ARE YOU OKAY ? and i said YES i am OKAY and he looked at my feet ( left toes ) do you want me take you go to hospital ? I said NO and wanted to go home with my second baby ... He kissed my cheek and he carried my second baby and put his backseat and i told him that i want to sat backseat with my second baby... and i was shaking real bad and cried and THATS FUCKINGS HURTS MY THREE TOE NAIL OFF AND BROKE MY ANKLE.... i decided to call my mother to picked me up to go to hospital and my car still left at on ditches and after the hospital done, i wore a cast half calf and my dad check on engine and brake and found out that ASSHOLE ex husband didnt put brake fuild .... and My dad was so angry with my ex husband and he yellled at my ex husband to tried to kill me and my second baby AND HE SAID he forgot to check out on brake fuild.... i TOLD EX HUSBAND THAT HE HAS NO EXCUSE FOR FORGOT TO CHECK OUT BRAKE FUILD PERIODS....

There was a big dump truck in Seattle, guess what? It had no brakes and it went down the hill. The driver did the best trying to avoid cars and people and cannot stop it til he tried to sharply steer the steering wheel so the truck can tip over to slow down. Nothing can slow a speeding heavy equipment, there has to be something to slow it down like hitting things in the way. No brakes will not slow it down. He was a hero and didn't hurt anyone in downtown Seattle.
