How Much Sleep Do You Really Need?

I agree, 8 hours is too much! well, at least for me. I feel so much more tired and crabby if I sleep more than 8 hours. good to know I'll live longer too. for being a very very, extremely light sleeper. I've became one because of having furry alarms without snooze buttons for over six years now - dogs and cats! also with three jobs I have so usually I sleep for 5 or 6, mostly 7 hours. buttt, lately because of my fracture, morphines and missing days of work I've been sleeping in too much! like 10 11 12? hours blah. not SO me. and starting day so late (like 9AM or 10AM) makes me cry.

I also learnt in a health class from a third edition book that sleeping for same hours at same schedule time for TEN days is only way you catch up your sleep. it'll 'start over' if you screwed up in between. sleeping double hours 'to catch up' in a day after the night of sleep you missed won't work. interesting!

Interesting fact Miss D.

I sleep between 6 to 7 hours during the week. 7-8 hours on weekends, but I wake up often so I probably get good 5 hours of sleep everyday. :dunno:

For me, I usually sleep 8-10 hours everyday, or longer when off work.

Very Interesting!!!

I usually sleep at 9 to 11 p.m. then wake up at 5:30 a.m. before! :D

Well, I do need at least 8 hours of sleep to function and not be cranky. I have been trying hard to get into the habit of sleeping 8 hours before work. It's a hard habit to break. I have, however, made a better habit of going to bed before 12 am. I used to go to bed past 12 am in high school. My sleeping pattern was bad. It's a necessity because it makes me cranky. It's my fault because I force myself to stay up.

Also, sleeping is a necessity for all drivers. I have heard or read somewhere that said that those ocassional bumping on the curb or silly things we do is the equivalent of being drunk! It's kinda sounds true to me.

I used to sleep only about 4 hours for many years during weekdays and then usually a full day of sleep on either sat or sun (usually 12 hrs). Now that I'm getting old.... I can't do 4 hours anymore... more like 6-8 hours for me.

I read that the older you get, the less hour you need. I would be the crankiest person if I slept 4 hours for a week.

I know an employee that had to get up at 4 am, and drive her husband to work. She sometimes got off work at 9 pm. She said she didn't get much sleep. Sometimes she seemed cranky, but I couldn't understand how she wasn't cranky all day. I felt bad for her.

I sleep at about 8-10 hours, and am happy with it. Life's short, no matter how long it was.

I get 6-8 hours each night unless I stay up late. On my summer breaks from RIT, I was often on China time and sleeping for 12-16 hours during the day.
