I was wondering how much do you make on SSI or SSDI? Im cerious!!

Thanks

This is sort of a personal question, but i can tell you that each state's maximum allowance is different. Some may recieve $300/mo or less; while others may receive more.

Agreed with you.

It is really none of your business.

All Im trying to figure out is rather I should switch over to medicare or not, to see what is more. Thats all! No harm meant to be

You may want to check into what medicare can offer you, and go with that. Reasoning dictates, however, that supplemental income is always best. You might also be able to receive both. So, do some checking around. Please don't rely on us alone. The payments vary from state to state, so it's not good to go by what we tell you alone. Do some comparisons, and make your determination that way.

I don't collect SSI or SSDI. I think it is too crazy to get money from SSI or SSDI. I had a first job working in Kmart and Subway's, and then all the way to government. I am working for the government and I have work so hard to get a job, it made me feel good that I can do it and I prove them that I can do everything to work, not just because I am deaf or HOH. I am making more money and now I am in comfortable salary that I can afford to live in...

I have full job secure with my full benefits. 401(k), med insurance, and more.

Usually medicaid is better than Medicare!!! That is FYI! I know for sure... Reason... Medicaid usually pays for almost everything, and no premium to pay, comparing to Medicare where you have to pay 85 dollars a month premium plus 20% co-pay for any doctor visit. RX coverage really varies but you STILL have to pay for it, while Medicaid pays 99% of them.

Actually, if you qualify as very low income, you can have your medicare premiums paid for by the state. Mine are.

That kind of also depends, too. I'm on FL Medicaid.

FL Medicaid pays for inpatient medical care, doctors visits. They also pay for durable medical equipment, but they also decide what they won't pay for, too.

They decide what drugs they will pay for, and what drugs they won't. If they won't pay for a drug, then the consumer has to pay out of pocket. Sometimes, they will pay, but you need pre-authorization before they will. That usually takes three days to get.

Last year, I was sick with a serious infection, and was prescribed an antibiotic. FL medicaid made me wait THREE days before they approved this medication. By then, my fever was increasing, and I was going down hill. On the day of the approval, I ended up in the hospital. The infection had entered my blood stream and I was nearly critical.

In the hospital, I got the medications that I needed, and as you can see, I'm fine now. But, medicaid coverage is NO panacea, believe me.

I stopped receive SSI after I got full time job which better $$$ than SSI... Also included all benefits

I don't have a SSI or a SSDI. I have a decent job with a year-end bonus and excellent benefits including paid personal time off, paid holidays, 401(k), and medical, vision, dental & long-term disability insurances.

Yes, that is correct

No, that is not what I mean, with medicaid you don't have to pay much out of your pocket. With Medicare, you'd be paying much more than you would realize! 20% of doctor fees that you have to pay each time!!! You don't pay any co-pay to doctor with medicaid. The rules on what medicaid and medicare pays for, really pretty much similiar.

The only negative about medicaid is that they aren't "out-of-state" friendly! What it means is that if you were visiting your friends or relatives in other states and got emergency needs and end up in emergency room, your pretty much on your own! Medicaid WON'T pay a penny! Medicare, can go anywhere in the USA.

I don't have any copays for doctor visits under Medicare but I think that is because I qualify as low income so they are paid for, and also because Medicaid picks up the rest. But for meds on Plan D (new) I have a $1 to $3 co pays which isn't too bad.

Right, I'm speaking for person that isn't qualified for Medicaid, and depending on Medicare.. I have been though this before and I know the system. :) What you have explained is indeedly correct.

I was on SSI before and got Medi-cal insurance (california) and it paid for everything, including emergency rooms. I dont know about having SSI and getting medicare or medicaid which would be new info. for me. I know if you are on SSDI in california, you can get both medi-cal and medicare. Thats all I know. :)

SSI alone can NOT get Medicare! Medicare is for SSDI and SS only.
