WindowsXP Service Pack 2 (SP2) includes pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer. Googlebar toobar is another alternative I've used before SP2.

Yes, I agree with you. Me too.

OldNavyGirl, do you used Windows XP Professional?

i have it, and its not the reason... it is like web offer or something like that.

Do you use IE Version 6 or whatever ? I suggest
that you look at the toolbar above and look for
"Pop-ups Allowed" and click on it then it will
change to "Pop-ups Blocked"

Tips: At the top section of the Internet Explorer (IE),
Click on View then Toolbars and then you can try to click
on either MSN toolbar and/or AIM toolbar. You will see
one of these toolbar opened up and see if
you might find these Pop-ups clicks on these toolbars

Hope you find this helpful.

Oh ok.

You've probably got spyware on your computer. I recommend SpyBot or Ad-Aware for your computer. They are free programs that scan your computer for spyware and delete them for you. If they can't be deleted, do it in safe mode and you'll be fine. :thumb:

You can download these programs from:

http://www.download.com

I do not trust IE... I discovered that Mircosoft internet exploder has deadly virus come w/pop up and much more hijacking too.. I've helped my friend's computer which got virus coming from IE/MSN both.. I clean it up and everything went hell pain ass.. longest hours until 1am finally it's over... My other friends called here and howling for help.. I knew it there's having diffculities removed some of files which it's DLL. Pretty crappy!
Advise best download firefox... there's quite poweful tool prevent any kinds of pop up and rest of others too..
I'm using adware se/spybot.
Ha Ha.. Any kinds of Anti-virus are good tool helps..Hell no! Just companies want making $$$ from you and buying the software. Full of crap!

I use ad-aware on my computer. For the most part, it works well and I have a minimal of ads. They're a true pain in the arse, I know....but check out what's out there to download.

haha.. you beat me to this :P

My work computer crashed last Tuesday and wiped out over 400 emails :( I asked a computer whiz to look at it. He installed Spybot ware in my computer and found out that I had over 350 spywares in my computer. I was shocked at how clever these can get, sneaking into my computer without my knowledge.

Now I do spybot check often.

I never like IE.. Firefox is the best!!!!!!!!!! Firefox helps the computer's brian feel better

personally i do not have a problem with IE included service pack 2. i am almost spam free. IE with s pack 2 works super.

if you have earthlink program that comes with spam blocker, i dont think it is great anti spamming program. i keep fixing my gf's laptop sometimes when spammer attacks her laptop. i keep suggesting her to cut off earthlink account, but she is stubborn to keep it because she has kept her email address for her job since then.

also i use spybot- search & destory program. it is very good like ADers say.

yes foxfire works very well.

If you guys haven't seen it yet, Microsoft now has its own version of Anti-Spyware. It is still in beta but it seems to have found a lot that Lavasofts Ad-aware has missed, as well as another program I use. It is also real-time, like anti-virus is. This is helpful as it stops it while its happening instead of finding it during a scan after the fact.
