How do you like to socialise?

Hi there,

Out of interest, how do you like to socialise? Please vote in the poll. (Please don't vote if you're not deaf or HoH.)

I am moderately HoH and I'm unable to identify the direction of sound. As a result, I have communication preferences because of it. For instance, I hate socialising in groups in rl, it is simply too much for me to handle. I find myself isolating myself and giving other people false perceptions about myself as a result. In contrast though, I love communicating online, via text and in real life one-to-one situations.

Today for instance, someone in a corridor said "Hi, you all right?" and I replied "Yeah, not bad thanks!". I then noticed that the person gave me a strange look. (He was facing me the whole time.) As I walked by, I saw that his friend (who was stood next to him) was on the phone! I quickly realised that the question wasn't even for me! As you can imagine, I felt like a complete muppet. But I'm sure many of you can relate to what I'm saying.

I voted 1 to 1 verbal and also 1 to 1 sign language.

I think you will find many people don't always do the same thing, depending on what situation they are in.

I prefer by text (AIM, texting, email, etc.)...or one-on-one or in a small group setting.
