Guess I should have stopped here first before responding to the "why are you learning ASL?" thread. Sorry.
I'm Jen. I have 4 kids, 8, 5, 3, and 1. We homeschool and we've been learning ASL as our choice for a second language. We love it. We're using Signing Time videos for now (which is my 1yo daughter's obsession), but I'm very interested in learning sentence structure and language nuances that we're not getting from the ST videos. We want more knowledge.
My husband has a deaf coworker that we'd like to cultivate more of a friendship with. We've been meaning to learn more ASL (his coworker has taught him a bit over the years, but he can hear some, so it hasn't been a necessity, though they have enjoyed signing some around others and having it be an "inside joke" type of situation), but haven't gotten around to it until now. We just want to be respectful in our interactions, and we'd like to be inviting and friendly. And fluent, we'd like to be fluent.
