I'm definitely new to this site! My name is Evey and I'm 20 years old! I'm a nursing student. I'm on this site to learn more ASL and more about it. I'm hoping to make some new friends who could assist! I hope that's okay!

I also forgot to mention that I'm hearing! My apologies!

There is an ASL group in google+ people post wanting to chat a couple times a day. of many levels. I've found it harder to start with someone's Skype and no idea what times they're free. And I'm always so busy.
Oh uea, welcome!

Thank you so much! That does sound like a good idea though! I'll definitely be looking into it! But I was considering that the other night! Even if I could find a nice partner to practice ASL with (other then showing the signs I know to my 5 year old haha) there is a big chance that our schedules will interfere with each other! But I'm determined to learn! ^_^

Hey evey im 19 and new here too! I am hearing too and just like you i want to learn all i can from the deaf. I did not know about the google + asl group
How do i find it?

I actually downloaded the app onto my phone! Then searched for a group under communities!

Welcome! How did it get you interested in learning ASL? Feel free to practice ASL with me if you want to.

It's honestly such a silly story! When I was younger I had a really sweet friend who was deaf. Her name was Candace and we called her Candy! To communicate we would write notes to each other (I've always been a bit of a writer so I loved it)! She invited me to her house one time to meet her parents. Her mom was hearing and her dad was deaf. But to communicate they all signed to each other! It blew my mind! Her mom would sit and translate for me! And she even showed me some signs! I absolutely loved it! To me...it was like a dance! A beautiful dance with their hands and I fell in love! I moved away though when I was 13 and didn't get to practice anymore so I lost it! But I would love to practice with you some time!

Nice! I am deaf who use sign language and I am sure it will be easier than it should be but it might be rusty. If you ever want to practice, feel free to look up on my profile and add me on skype under the contact!

That sounds like it would be lots of fun! Is your Skype name the same as your screenname here?
