Greetings everyone.

This will be my second shot at this post. The last one was last week I think and it's disappeared or not shown up. Hopefully it doesn't now.

I'm 31 years old. I just moved from Texas to Minnesota. I am a musician, an avid reader (I had over 1000 books.. then got a Kindle lol), and I play way too many video games.

I have otosclerosis. It's got to severe hearing loss in my right and moderate in my right ear. I can still technically hear, just not well. I do miss a lot of stuff and have trouble focusing because I don't hear anyway, so why bother(bad attitude I know). I took ASL classes for 6 years when I was younger because my parents weren't sure how rapidly my hearing loss would progress, but I quit in high school and have since forgotten a lot. I would love to learn again.

I recently started wearing a hearing aid for my right ear. It's not the optimal solution, but I'm not ready to go for the BAHA even though my audi said I was a prime candidate. The HA gives me some hearing back and it's lovely. I'll look into a second one or the baha in the future likely though.

I'm so glad to meet all of you and I hope to get to know everyone better. It's nice to know that I'm not alone!

Welcome, fellow newbie! My introductory post got eaten too, but it wasn't very good, so that's okay ;)

If you would love to learn ASL again, why not make the commitment and start learning/practicing again? I've always wanted to learn violin, but I couldn't start. No one would ever tell me "Just go and buy one, then start learning" to get me off my butt and start, so I told that to myself. If nothing else, learning for the sake of learning makes you feel good :)

As you said, you're definitely not alone! Welcome aboard :D

Thank you :)

And yes, a gamer girl. I've toned down a bit because I have to go to college soon. Time to move on with my life and realize that completing my music education degree isn't realistic anymore. So I'm going to go for Software Engineering.

Welcome to AllDeaf!

I am also deaf/hoh. I have profound hearing loss in one ear and severe hearing loss in the other.

I just starting meeting my local deaf community last year, but I'm still struggling with learning sign language, while going to college at the same time (one year left on a Computer Support Specialist AAS degree).

Whereabouts in Minnesota are you located? I know some people in the Moorhead area, and also someone in the Minneapolis area that can help you connect with the deaf community.

Welcome I am also new and a gamer. I had to cut back a lot with school starting back today. But I guess that is the sacrifices I make for my educations lol.

Hello, My name is Twiggy. I am a 23 y.o. mother of a amazing 2 y.o. I am in the process of teaching myself Sign Language and loving every minute of it. I don't know anyone who is deaf but saw it in my church growing up and have loved it very much. I will be starting school in the fall at Saint Louis Community College in Missouri to get my Deaf Communication Degree. I can't wait to become an interpreter. I have found a few people to practice with on Sype and it is very fun and useful in the learning process.
I would love to be able to find places to get together and meet people hearing or not and practice, learn more about the culture, and make friends. :D
If anyone knows of anything in Missouri I would love the info and help in this area
