Hello,

My name is Chris, and I'm new here, new to the entire deaf community as well....hello. My son (~10 mo) recently lost his hearing due to Meningitis. He's perfectly fine now, and we're lucky to have him with us. Thank God.

Grab a cup of tea, or coffee (or wine, an All Deaf favorite) and settle in. Please keep your hands and arms inside at all times, fasten your seatbelt (make sure it is low and tight across your hips), be aware that the nearest emergency exit may be behind you....oh wait. Wrong warnings.

But seriously, keep kleenex nearby. You'll either need it for sad tears, happy tears, laughing so hard you're crying tears, or to clean off the monitor should you laugh while drinking above mentioned libations.

And chocolate. Never EVER come to the All Deaf forum without chocolate. :laugh2:

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. I hope you will get all the informations about raising your deaf son from us and get you to start on baby sign language so that he will be able to understand you and your family. Sign language is very important including the ASL to help us understand better than lipreading. It is the hearing that cause us to be frustrated trying to make out what hearing people say when we try reading lips. The lipreading is not accurate and get a lot of misunderstandings. So learn to sign and also get yourself into Deaf Culture. There might be some places where you can learn how to sign like colleges or Hearing Society for the Deaf or find in the phone book. Maybe you can google on the internet and find what you are looking for. Anyway, I hope you have fun with us reading and posting all the threads here. :wave:

I detest chocolate, so I never come with it.
