I am a dad of a daughter who has recently lost her hearing. I need advice of all kinds.

:welcome: to Alldeaf! Enjoy browsing and posting! You will find wealth of information here in Alldeaf. Just ask away. :)

Hello and welcome to Alldeaf! Surely you'll find some good, useful ideas, thoughts, solutions here as well as wherever else you might obtain the resources for your daughter's benefit and well-being. Bear in mind that as many ways that is available out there may work for some while it doesn't for others. Whatever age your child is, I wish you the very best as you search and find a way that she'll greatly benefit from as well as for those close to her. There are several categories in this Forum that you can post your concerns, questions, etc.,...also, hope you'll enjoy your stay here in AD as well.

Have a great day!

Welcome to AD! :) If you don't mind my asking, what is the extent of your daughter's hearing loss? Did she lose all of her hearing or can she hear a little? I'm sure you'll find a wealth of information and support here on AD.

Hello and Maybe will answer of your questions in future!! :):):)

Welcome,

from a father of a deaf child...

You'll find plenty of info in the CI and HA section. (With info both pro and con CI... )
Many parents there (including me) that will be able to answer most - perhaps even all - your questions.
So goto that section and start browsing. We'll be ready for your questions....

Welcome. How old is your daughter? I would recommend that you browse not only the HA and CI sections, but all sections, as there is so much more to deafness than using amplification. To understand what your daughter is going through, you need to understand what deaf people before her have gone through, and how it has affected them. Good luck. As the parent of a deaf son, I will telll you that it is not the end of the world, just the beginning of a whole new one for both of you.

I'm a daughter of two parents who are unsympathetic to the fact I'm going deaf. The biggest thing you can do is LISTEN. You need to understand that as difficult and stressful as the situation is for you, it is much worse for her. If she chooses to learn ASL, learn with her. You need to be able to communicate with your daughter. Also stick up for her if she has trouble with her school relating to her hearing loss.

If you want to talk to me privately, I'd be more than happy to help you. :)

Yea, I agree with Jillio..there is SO much to learn from other sections especially in "Our world, Our Culture"

There are so many different opinions about them and I hope they will help u rather than discourage u. There are always differing opinions about deafness but doesnt mean there is one "right" way. :)

What particular advice are you looking for?

BTW... Welcome to AllDeaf! Enjoy your stay! :thumb:
