Hey all,
I started losing my hearing a couple of months ago and we thought it was from medication (ototoxicity). Then I began having episodic vertigo. I have seen an audiologist and was dx with a 30 db loss (35 in left ear). I was referred to an ENT who suspected Meniere's and sent me for bloodwork and MRI. I am going for an ENG and ESBR later this month. Anyone ever have these done? What can I expect as I'm nervous!?
My bloodwork came back with a positive ANA and elevated autoimmune complements. There is a likely chance I have systemic lupus now and will be seeing a rheumatologist.
Has anyone had an experience similar to this? I have read that in some cases lupus can cause dizziness and sensorineural loss. I have also read that people with lupus are more susceptible to developing Meniere's. Too many theories and too few answers right now!
In the meantime, I'm living in "hearing limbo" and falling quite frequently from the dizziness.
