Out of curiousity, I brought home some Rays. I cut the "wings" off and skinned it. I have not cooked it yet.

Have you tried Stingray before? If so how was it prepared and how did it taste?

I have it in the freezer. I will look up some recipes and try it. I will definately post how it taste. :)

I've caught them while fishing off the Jax Pier...but always toss them back in...never ate any Stingray.....wondering how they taste?

Ick! Poor creatures! I won't eat it....

Yea Google it and will explain you how to cook it.

You can catch them but watch out for the Barbed tail. I took a pair of pliers and broke off the barb. (You do this VERY CAREFULLY)

I did try the stingray. I ended up rolling it in seafood breader and deep frying it. Taste like fish to me. Not bad! The meat was white and pretty, and not very strong at all.

How do you release them? How do they behave when you catch them?

They are very heavy when you are reeling them in. Once you land it. They usually flop some but not much. After they tire out, I take a towel and hold it over the body part to hold the stingray down. Then take a pair pliers and break off the barb.

Cut the line....they are dangerous fish. The one I caught was not so big. I've never seen anyone shoot or knife a stingray, just sharks.

I hope you cut it close to the stingray. If not the hook eventually rust or become loose in the rays mouth. Causing sea life, and birds to get tangled up in the line.

No, I've never tried Stingray.

Never caught a Stingray on fishing line.

It is not bad. I would not go out and specifically seek stingray for a meal. I still prefer Red Groupers and Red Snapper over any fish! :)

I believe he cut the line as close as he could (my friend). I'm not an expert on Stingray's...I've caught them along with other fish, even a huge Catfish in St. Augustine, which took me forever to reel it in (and nobody would help me!)...saying "it's ur fish"!

St. Augustine is my favorite place to go fishing, Mayport also. Deep Sea fishing is a lot of good times too.

Catfish scares me more than stingrays do. That is why I keep gloves, towels, and a good pair of pliers with me when I fish.

Mayport sounds fun. I often goto Little Talbot Island for the kids to swim and play on the beach.

I have not fished at St Augustine in a while. I have fished off Vilano Beach pier and St Aug. beach pier. Both places are OK.

Perhaps one day we should get together and go fishing. :)
