I've caught them while fishing off the Jax Pier...but always toss them back in...never ate any Stingray.....wondering how they taste?
How do you release them? How do they behave when you catch them?

Cut the line....they are dangerous fish. The one I caught was not so big. I've never seen anyone shoot or knife a stingray, just sharks.
I hope you cut it close to the stingray. If not the hook eventually rust or become loose in the rays mouth. Causing sea life, and birds to get tangled up in the line.
I believe he cut the line as close as he could (my friend). I'm not an expert on Stingray's...I've caught them along with other fish, even a huge Catfish in St. Augustine, which took me forever to reel it in (and nobody would help me!)...saying "it's ur fish"!
St. Augustine is my favorite place to go fishing, Mayport also. Deep Sea fishing is a lot of good times too.
