Don't be too sure yet because we haven't hear it directly from Microsoft and/or Bungie yet.

True but we already know that Halo 3 is already under development so we won't hear about this from Microsoft or Bungie in awhile...even after Xbox 360 is launched.
 
Yep awhile ago after Halo 2 was launched, Bungie said their next project isn't Halo 3 so who knows what the next project will be...perhas Oni 2? lol Bungie worked closely with Rockstar games creating the orginal Oni for the playstation 2 afew years back and thought it was kinda cool...well in some ways, I guess.

I'm pretty sure they will work on Halo 3 even though they said it won't be their next project, but meant that it won't be their next game coming out, but will still be under development while other games from Bungie are ready to be out for Xbox360.
 
proably Halo 2.5 first, to put in more levels, and more cutscenes that weren't even in the first version of the Halo sequel...possibly more weapons too.
