Yeah, it is sad. But it seems impossible to see like that -- how did it happen? Sounds rare to me, maybe?
 
you would think they would figure out a way to remove the growths?
 
His immune system is out of wack. Everything that you see, they're warts. His body was unable to contain them, thus it keeps building on each other, getting bigger and bigger.

Update is that he's receiving daily doses of Vitamin A, and it seems to halt the growths a little bit. It will be a long while before he can really gain full use of his hands/feet.

I remember when I was around 12 or 13, I had about 30 warts on my right arm. It was "soft" type of warts, and it was just very bizarre. After a few weeks of treating it with lotion and Vitamin A, it went away.
