It was NOT designed to help Detroit. It was created to conserve more energy and reduce independence on oil.
 
stimulus is working !,LOL ! Tell this to people that get SS and SSI checks!
They will not be getting a cost of living raise for two years while the cost of living keep on going up! My 66 old years sister and 68 old years old friend have to keep on working to pay their bills! There will be no Golden years for a lot folks! I see more eldlers working at K-Mart than ever and I notice of a lot of them can't afford false teeth . When they smile 2 or 3 teeth are missing in front! The stimulus is working so good that Democratic are having a food drive in my city for people tat can't afford to buy food for their families! And they want me to bring some food to the drive and buy a dinner for $15 .00 too!

What do you mean? Stimulus checks are not sent to people who trade old cars for new cars. They get vouchers which they give to car dealers.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear.

I was referring to the stimulus checks that were sent to individuals, not the Cash for Clunkers program.
 
Oh yeah, they did send out extra checks for SS recipients.

Thanks to past administrations that created the mess.
 
Problem is that all past administrations was never serious about truly balancing the budget, or get rid of pork barrel projects, and so on. It just gets worse and worse. It's a Ponzi scheme growing before our eyes. Obama certainly didn't help this situation either with a near $2 trillion dollar running deficit already in the first 6 months of his office, several times more than Bush in his first year in office. We've going downhill, nobody wants to admit that.

All I need to do is look at my 401k to see what happened when. With Clinton, my account was getting fed large weekly contributions, because I was working 50+ hours a week; and the stock market was going berzerk with profits. Then, after a few years of W Bush, my contributions ceased, because I was jobless on and off; the stock market began to stagnate, then drop. Now, with Obama, the market has begun to rally; my joblessness seems to be entering a more optimistic state. That is all the graphs and charts I need. Sorry, I will not post my banking and 401k statements here. Suffice it to say that my own personal situation has gone up with Clinton, down with Bush, up with Obama. Is it coincidence?

To our resident Conservative beacons: you can quote politicians all you want; copy/paste articles all you want; post graphs and polls all you want. For me, it is my bottom line that I am watching. Call it selfish, but that is what determines my position. You want to talk about cratering? I see plenty of that in my financial statements from the 2004-2008 time frame.

Mine has been going up since Clinton but lost about 40% of my earnings with Bush/Obama and it is just now back to where it was before it tanked only because I was forced to switch all my account into govt bonds to preserve what I had left.

The stock market going up is inverse of Obama's disapproval rating going down because the stock market sees Obama having less power and influence which emboldens the market to take a risk on investing.

I am still hurting. I am still unemployed, now 11 months of that. The financial hit I am taking to my life savings just to pay the bills is lost investment potential. Almost everyone is still hurting. Very few came out of the last few years better off than before. I only have hope that we have turned the corner. Not convinced yet; Obama or pure fate. Probably both. Hoping it keeps going up.

Agreed. Not placing full blame on either party for getting us in the mess, or giving full credit to either party for getting us out.
