Hilarious!

"Republicans Reject Reid's Forgive-and-Forget Approach to 'Negro' Comment"

FOXNews.com - Republicans Reject Reid's Forgive-and-Forget Approach to 'Negro' Comment

Seriously, GOP is so ridiculous - Obama forgave him and forgot it... but GOP won't. LOL! If Obama forgives, then GOP should give up. The more GOP drags the race card, the more stupid they look.

How quick was Reid to forgive Trent Lott??? Why is it people are ok with Reid but not ok with the same word on the census?

Why is it Reid apologized to Obama but refused the opportunity to apologize to his voters today? He was asked point blank today if he would like to apologize to the voters and instead he left saying he has said all that he has to say.

What's ridiculous is blaming a poor choice of words which is all that he apologized for. How exactly would you rephrase that statement. The reason people are not letting it drop is his motives ARE transparent. The Health Care bill before the Senate is the Reid Bill.

Imagine a GOP saying the same thing. I see double standards and hypocrisy at work here. Dems get a pass each time. Bill Clinton told Ted Kennedy that Obama 'would be getting us coffee' a few years ago. Yet, Bill didn't apologize for this "transgression." Reid only "apologized" to Obama but refused to apologize to the voters. That says alot.

Simply because Lott was not friendly to civil rights and his comment was WAY much worse than what Reid said. Lott opposed extending voting rights for the poor/blacks:

Washington Post Sweeps Away Lott's Racist Record

His actions speak louder.

Reid supported Obama, here's the entire quote:

"He was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,” as he later put it privately."

And his assessment is correct. If Obama was blacker and spoke with a negro dialect, he'd NEVER have a chance.

No double standards... phony controversy.

That makes Reid a racist then to even suggest that? A negro dialect. Exactly what is that and please explain how that would forfeits a black American from running for American office?

Are you really that naive to think that a black man with a negro dialect would win the race... or you just don't understand the race issues?

This quote is condescending to Obama. It's the same as when people comment on how well Deaf peoplle speak. At the same time it is racist toward other blacks. It is also an unfair indictment of our country.

Perhaps Liberals were not ready for a dark skinned President. But I can assure you most Conservatives were. All that I know were very disappointed when Condi didn't run. True she didn't have the dialect that Reid crudely refers though.

I'm asking you, explain why this would be the case. Why would a "negro dialect" cause a potential black candidate to lose the race? Exactly what in your mind is a "negro dialect" since you seem to profess great knowledge in this case using a racist reasoning.

hahaha funny... you are funny!! You would actually vote for a "conservative" black man with a black dialect to become your next president? LOL! You just kill me! :)

I don't discern differences in voice dialects as equivocal to intelligence or wisdom. Otherwise, it'd be racist to think that. If the person has the experience, skill, wherewithals, savvyness and so on to do the job then he or she is the person. Voice dialect has nothing to do with a person's ability to do the job.

Again, exactly what do you mean by "black dialect"? Are you purposely avoiding this question?

Your worldview seems to be dependent on conservatives being a bunch of racists. Must suck.

Reid absolutely deserves to be hammered for this, not so much because of what he said, but because of the demagoguery he's heaped on others. Neither truth nor intent seemed to be much of a defense to Harry Reid when he criticized Bill Bennett, a radio host, for some words that, bad as they sound, technically had some truth to them.

I don't think people should dump on Harry Reid as a racist for this statement, but I am satisfied with pointing out the double standard- that context, intent, truthfulness, and apologies mean nothing when one side goofs up, but when the other side says something dumb, suddenly that means everything.

And I think it bears repeating. There is no difference between when Reid says that Obama is well spoken without black dialect and whe people comment on how well a deaf person speaks. It is condescending and offensive. Not just a poor choice of words. I think this got lost in my previous post.

Intellectually, I agree but the public doesn't agree. It ain't just about you.

Enlighten yourself... and I do remember how you mocked Ebonics. :)

Again, how does a "negro dialect" prevent a black person from becoming an elected official in politics? I'm still waiting.

There's a difference in understanding what a person is saying when slangs and jargons are used versus a person's own dialect or accent in using the English language and its vocabulary.

I dislike Reid very much.......but the comparison of statements are very much in fifferrentlines.
trest Lott was a true southern racist.....and his comments and record showed such over time. The Reid statement was one misstatement....poor choice of words....which many people use at one time or other. But those people don't carry a voting record and statement record over time.
apples and oranges.
not a free pass.
I want Reid out....too liberal....but this is peanuts.

People don't vote for people with dialects that they don't "connect" with.

Again, it isn't about you. Apparently, even lying politicians know better than you do.

Really, you don't know what the whole context is? What happened was that Reid was totally wow'd by Obama and TOLD HIM that Obama should be the next president. And he made that comment.

But for some odd perversion that GOP seems to have, GOP wanted the public to think that Reid is a racist that hates Obama even though Reid was the ONE wanting Obama to be the president praising his oratory skills.

And Obama defended Reid tonight and said the controversy is pure non-sense.

Phony controversy for nothing. GOP is so desperate to vilify a democrat.

I'm not saying he is a racist nor am I saying that he hates Obama. I am saying his statements are offensive. There are even more problems with his apology. He apologized to Obama, the CBC amd civil rights leaders but refused the opportunity to apologize to the voters of Nevada and walked away from the cameras. Why???? Could it be that Nevada is overwhelmingly white??? It appears that Reid is trying to play both sides trying to appease the blacks in DC and the Whites who vote for him in Nevada at the same time.

I will say again, I am not racist at all. I would vote for anyone I felt could do the job regardless of race.
