I would vote for anyone I felt could do the job regardless of race.
sometimes I still wonder why didn't McCain get Hutchison..... that would be a solid clinch for me

Thanks for backing up my point. You just gave a reasonable defense of him, but he hasn't been equally reasonable about his opponents when they say dumb things. He wouldn't let a conservative off the hook this easily. He's getting his own medicine here.Really, you don't know what the whole context is? What happened was that Reid was totally wow'd by Obama and TOLD HIM that Obama should be the next president. And he made that comment.
But for some odd perversion that GOP seems to have, GOP wanted the public to think that Reid is a racist that hates Obama even though Reid was the ONE wanting Obama to be the president praising his oratory skills.
And Obama defended Reid tonight and said the controversy is pure non-sense.
Phony controversy for nothing. GOP is so desperate to vilify a democrat.
People don't vote for people with dialects that they don't "connect" with.
Again, it isn't about you. Apparently, even lying politicians know better than you do.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/12/us/politics/12campaign.html"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman of any color, he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”
I will say again, I am not racist at all. I would vote for anyone I felt could do the job regardless of race.
plenty of studies back up what Reid said about lighter blacks speaking better have more chance of being successful:
Senator Harry Reid's Racial Remarks Have Truth, Studies Say. Critics Disagree. - ABC News
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man." (Watch Biden's comments and Obama's reaction )
Biden issued a statement Wednesday afternoon, saying: "I deeply regret any offense my remark in the New York Observer might have caused anyone. That was not my intent and I expressed that to Sen. Obama."
Man, they are pulling out all the stops to protect Reid. What a way to carry his water.
If this isn't a problem then why did Reid apologize? Never mind the fact he never apologized to the black voters who might feel just as slighted by Reid comments. And one wonders why did Obama feel the need to be a part of Reverend Wright's church for 20 years? Was it so he could get some "black street cred" because he could be seen as "too white" for some potential black voters? Or in the case of Biden a "clean candidate"?
Biden's description of Obama draws scrutiny - CNN.com
Bill Clinton about Obama would've been fetching coffee a few years ago.
Reid on the "negro dialect."
Geraldine Ferraro on being black and having preferrential treatment.
Hillary adjusting her voice and style to mimic more of the southern black audience with a tinge of black dialect.
And you have Biden talking about Obama as a "clean" candidate.
I mean, what are we supposed to think?
