GOP pick Ron Paul and Mitt Romney in straw poll

What people don't realize is that the positive and negative effects from the economy, environment, etc are often not the results of the current administration but the past administrations.
Carter? :cool2:

Yes, especially considering his economic and occupational actions are still reverberating in a negative way not just here at home, but throughout the entire world.

The sooner we forget about Reagan, the better.
I think it's important not to forget about any of our past presidents or their administrations. That's history.

I didn't say that he needed a federal holiday. We have enough federal holidays now. I guess he's already included in Presidents Day anyway.

I didn't say you did. I was asking how you felt about the idea.

Hmm, does anyone remember Chester Arthur? Perhaps if "prolific handlebar mustache" were part of the criteria for the presidency we would. :D

You have a point though, and I change my stance to agree with you, though I think for different reasons: We need to remember history so we do not repeat the same mistakes as the past. In Reagan's case, there were many, many, many mistakes that should never be repeated.

RR was hard of hearing and sometimes wore a hearing aid.

You never know for sure if any Presidents, young or old, have Alzheimer's until it's too late.

If RR did have Alzheimer's while in office (doubtful) he was still sharper than most government people (from both parties) around him. What does that same about them?

However, RR is not running for President in 2012.

I know RR is not running for President in 2012 but the GOP are really making a big deal about IF he was alive he would be 100 , ' I can't believe you're defending RR because he wore a HA! So that mean everyone here and get out of answering a person because they did not hear them! RR could had ask the reporters to come closer to him instead walking away and yelling "I can't hear you!" That was a poor ass excuse for not answering a question and it made it look like RR could not answer the question! I found this to be poor
judgement on RR behalf! It made him look like a fool to me yelling "I can't hear you!"

She is not defending him because he wore a HA. Trust me on this.

I believe Clinton also had HA.

So...when Clinton was hollaring..."whatdidyousay!"...he wasn't calling her name....

Interesting response. Why is President Carter considered one of the worst presidents? I have heard several arguments over this, but I cannot say that they were very convincing. Especially the one about Shah.

Right. People don't need to be defended for wearing hearing aids. :)

Yes, he did. Before that, he used the cupped-hand-behind-the-ear a lot, and didn't catch all the shouted out press questions.

Reba, you're missing my point! I don't care that RR wore a HA, I do care that he used it avoid answering questions from reporters, and now that his son came out and said his dad had Alzheimer when running for his second term I can't help but think RR did not know the answers because he had Alzheimer!

So...when Clinton was hollaring..."whatdidyousay!"...he wasn't calling her name....

I never saw Clinton that on TV! Like I said I have seen RR saw a few times 'I can't hear you!" then he keep on walking away from the reporters! This looked liked RR was trying to avoid the question because he could NOT answer it! Reba said RR was the sharpest person around , I disagree! I loved when he called ketchup a vegetable and said that good enough for the kids in schools to eat and he was eating like a king!

I didn't say he was one of the worst. He was the President before Reagan. My response was to:

Which you posted in response to a post about Reagan.

So I thought you were referring to the effects of the previous (Carter) administration on the credit/blame that the Reagan administration got.

You know that for a fact? Interesting. :hmm: I always thought people wore HA to help them hear.

and now that his son came out and said his dad had Alzheimer when running for his second term I can't help but think RR did not know the answers because he had Alzheimer!
Apparently you believe that his son Ron (who wasn't seeing his father on a regular basis) knew more than any of RR's doctors or other family and staff members knew.

Believe me this one. I had Mitt Romney in my state, and he ruined a biggest financial corruption in the history (2006). He hired his Big Dig contractors to build the channel tunnel in Boston that cost us one billion dollars, and a concrete ceiling panel fell that killed a driver. Later, another one that almost killed another driver. The contractors were illegal to bid something that got the job to work in the tunnel. The same contractors built some highway were a poor job due many drivers were in car accidents. I don't remember the specific story. I was told that the inspectors discovered many design flaws in both tunnel and highways. I would rather Ron Paul to win his election.

I have heard about RR's Alzheimer Disease on the news or maybe from Sunday 60 Minutes. Nancy told her son that she started to notice something went wrong with RR at the White House. They covered up the story about his mental all the way in his two terms. Once, I heard a rumor that he almost pressed a red button to release a nuclear against Russia. That would have started a WWWIII. It's too bad that RR was somewhat really a good president. One more thing, I was stunned that Nancy wished that she wanted him to change the party to Democrat after RR passed away according on ABC interview. I don't know why she said that on the interview.

Ah, yes, that's what I was referring. I just thought you meant something else.
