Are you tired of calling telephone numbers to major
companies, organizations and others through Relay and
then the Relay Operator types all of those "voice mail :rl:
messages" to you?

WELL, THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM! Go to the

webpage at gethuman . This is a list of
how to get a Human Being -- a live person -- to help
you when you call the listed businesses and
organizations! Yay!

If you are going to call one of the companies or
organizations on their list, tell the Relay Operator,
BEFORE THE RELAY CALL BEGINS, that you want them to do
whatever the "gethuman" site says, so that your call
will not be delayed by a lot of "recorded messages".

For example, when you want to call Relay to
1-800-FLOWERS.COM, you would just tell the Relay
Operator: "Call (800) 716-4851, and Press 2 at each
prompt."

Or, if you are calling American Airlines Customer
Service through Relay, tell the Relay Operator: "Call
(800) 433-7300, and Press 0 at each prompt, ignoring
messages."

CHECK THIS LIST for the phone numbers you use often,
and save the website for gethuman on your
computer for future use.

And tell all of your friends who use Relay, too! This
is very important, and it will save a lot of
frustration.

[NOTE: If you frequently call a company or
organization that is not on this list, you can ask a
hearing friend to call that number, and tell you how
they got to a live Operator. Just put the information
into your telephone book, and tell the Relay Operator
to do the same when you call that same number through
Relay in the future].
 
Thanks for posting this, Kal. I will most likely move to the country in May or June, a location where where land-line telephones are most reliable. I'll need Oregon Relay with my VCO, vocal command override (I think).

The "Press 8 for Russian" system is a pain in the back pockets.
 
We are not the only one who are having problems getting a human operator. My mom hate recording machine. She said it is not the same as the past. It's really getting annoyed now. damn machines! :ugh3:

Yep, that true,, it totally annoying iwth these damn machines recording is such a pain in the butt! I don't bother with it.:cool:

Out of curiosity, How do you rate this? Was it helpful?

I haven't tried the list yet. I was curious to see how it works.

Indeed, It is a hassle to get a live person especially when you really need to clear out something with whatever it is you're having.
