George Bush speaks of Iraq, economy, military

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Former President George W. Bush says what he misses most since leaving the White House is the inspiration he drew from his encounters with U.S. military personnel.

He spoke Thursday night before hundreds of people at Lake Michigan College in one of his first speeches since leaving office.

Bush touched on an array of subjects, ranging from the war in Iraq to the economic downturn to his return to life as a regular citizen.

He spoke for about 30 minutes and then took audience questions for nearly an hour.

Bush spoke before members of The Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan. They gave him a long, warm welcome when he arrived.

About eight people protesting Bush's appearance protested outside.

I´d like to know what 8 people says... Why they protest...

Who care for those whining protesters, anyway?

1,500 supporters > 8 whiners.

Blah blah blah yea whatever at Bush. I don't give a shit since I'm just glad he's already out of the office.

Just another indication that George just doesn't get it. Go home and shut up. Your time is up.

I'm really don't care about Bush and he's just already out of office, however it should be honor because used to be president, regardless if you don't like him and I do understand about majority of Americans don't like him.

Some presidents in previous are doing bad job as well.

I wish people would do the same when it comes to Clinton instead of constantly referring to his relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

Why should he "shut up?" He was invited to speak. All the former presidents get invitations to speak to groups after their "time is up."

Yup, I have agree with you. :h5:

Of course, if Clinton dies then we need honor for him as well.

Not "if" he dies but "when" he dies. All our past presidents will eventually die, and will be due their honors.

 I am sorry but I thought it was funny.

Speaking of Clinton, when he does pass away, I wonder if there will be as much fanfare (for lack of a better word) for him as there was for Ronald Reagan?

It depends on the family's wishes.
