14-Year-Old Child Prodigy Dies in an Apparent Suicide :sadwave:

VENANGO, Neb. (March 18) - A musical prodigy who completed high school at age 10 apparently committed suicide at 14, authorities said.

Brandenn E. Bremmer, who was studying piano improvisation at Colorado State University at Fort Collins, Colo., was found dead Tuesday at his home with a gunshot wound to the head, sheriff's officials said.

Brandenn began playing the piano at 3 and took his first high school class at 6.

He was home-schooled through high school, completing his junior and senior years in seven months. At 11 he starting taking independent study classes at Colorado State.
 
'A mind is a terrible thing to waste' has been used as a slogan for many years. I can't remmy the group's name, but I agree with the concept. It's a shame that he couldn't get help before this happened. Who knows what wonderful things he could have done with his life.
 
And who knows what personal demons and pains he will have to endure to go on in life.
 
Maybe he didn't want a wonderful life... maybe he wanted a normal life.
Go out and play with children and all.

Not study study study. And why be in College, when there is nobody his age to talk to?
 
I was just reading something the other day about psychological problems that geniuses have. I’ll see if I can find it again. The article said that they have a tendency to lead very isolated lives, and that most geniuses are pretty unhappy people.
 
He was gifted in music and graduated high school only four years ago apparently has committed suicide, police said.

There were no indications of foul play and the incident was being investigated as a suicide, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Brandenn, a pianist and composer, was studying piano improvisation at Colorado State University at Fort Collins, Colo.

Funeral arrangements had not been made, said John Long, owner of Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.

Brandenn was home schooled through high school and was the youngest to graduate in the more than 70-year history of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Independent Study High School.

He began his college experience at age 11 at Colorado State by taking independent study classes.

Brandenn taught himself to read at 18 months, began playing the piano at 3 and took his first high school class at age 6. He finished his junior and senior years of high school in seven months.

His mother, Patricia Bremmer, had estimated Brandenn's IQ at 178 based on an IQ test he began in 1996, but refused to complete.

An average IQ is 100, according to high IQ society American Mensa Ltd.

I heard about this also. It is sad. I imagine the child felt very out of place being so intelligient; yet emotionally still being just a kid. I hope he can rest in peace.

As for the organization the slogan was used for, I believe it was taken from RIF "Reading is Fundamental", a reading advocacy program. Now, if someone can up with the name of the program, I'd be grateful.
