My neighborhood seems to be pretty neat (lawns free of trash, etc.)...We have garbage collection twice a week, no dumpsters!

Some new tenants moved in about a month ago. And put their garbage out by the curb in cheap white trash bags.....One day, some stray cats and maybe even dogs, got into the garbage, and it was all over the lawn and road.

After the third time, and my own dog was trying to get into the garbage, I told the lady, politely...that we used garbage cans with lids, since we don't have dumpsters here. You can buy them cheap at the $ Store. She kind of "smirked" at me.....

Well, this AM, her garbage is back out by the road, again, in trash bags! Maybe I need to call the city? Really burns me up.

Call...see if they can do anything. There is a truck parked on the street almost in front of our house. It is FULL of Garbage. The owner goes out ever couple of days, starts it up and moves it an inch or so. Soo infuriating!! It is an eyesore to the whole neighborhood! AurGH!

You can call the police to issue a citation for littering. it is also the matter of public health hazard.

Put a note on the bags...

Property of (insert annoying tenant's name here)
(insert annoying tenant's address here)

That way, the garbage man will know who to be pissed off at next time. ;)

rock - or..... you can simply buy them a new garbage can since it's that cheap..... :dunno:

You could always call the city that's what I did. There was a point when I got so tired of cleaning after a neighbor, by taking her garbage to the front yard for garbage pick up day (that includes the toilet she left behind for weeks!) and she also doesn't even have a garbage can, I even brought her one, she says her income was very limited, which I don't believe it, but I had to buy her one because I don't want trash all over the place. I also had wrote her street number on the garbage can, but she rarely uses it.

So, after reported her to the city, she now put the trash in the garbage can and takes her own trash to the street for the dumpster truck to come and pick it up. ;)

You were extremely nice to the lady!....But still winded up having to call the city!....And that's what I'm mulling on doing.....I'm not buying them a garbage can...after she "smirked" at me, with that "I don't care attitude".

They drive a newer Mustang...so I just believe they just "don't care". And seeing them outside "smoking", so they can afford cigarettes! 2 Packs of those would buy a cheap garbage can.

Their lawn is growing up also!...Everybody else keeps theirs nice...so it's looking to be that we're gonna have an "eye sore" in the neighborhood! But, if one piece of their trash blows over in my yard, I'm gonna take it right over there and ask them again "politely" to keep their own garbage out of my yard.

I did not mean to sound like i am a rude nosey gal. but I wonder if you can take a picture of the neighbor's street what does the trash bags look like. plus save the picture and send it to the city and showing the proof!

I really like vamp's idea. =X

This funny as I was thinking of making a thread about trash bins in park!
I took my dog to the park today and a woman walking her dog told me dog owners can NO longer put their dogs poop in trash bins at the park! We to have to bring the bag of poop home with us and put it in own trash can!
Does anyone have this rule in your town or city?

I can't be too positive but its been 8 yrs ago. I remember I used to live in DC the lincoln park where the dogs hang out out there. I remember the trash cans with the new sign. It says something like " take your dogs' businesses home with you when dogs are done" Since the lincoln park in DC are too many dogs to hang out there and the trash cans are always FILLED up and stink! :giggle:

Do u have HOA? If so, ask them if there is a rule about garbage cans and garbage?

This is normal policy for a lot of cities. I know in Little Rock they require you to bring your own poop bags to pick up your dogs poop with.

My advice is keep a box of Ziploc bags in the car as well as the poop bags. When your done, take the poop bag full of poop put it in the ziploc bag, seal it and as soon as you get home, place it in an outside trashcan. It also helps to carry the poop bags with you on the leash when you take your dog out for a walk. Makes clean up easier and your neighbors with thank you for it.

Calling your Town.. Health Depts! :)

Good luck! ;) also Sorry about neighbor!

The City will give her a fine for allowing that. I know in the new place here we are required to have trash cans.

But also in the city limits they're leashed dogs laws. The neighbor can call the pounds on dogs and cats running loose in the neighborhood as well.

I do find large dogs running around to be a nuisance as well. Doesn't matter if you have a good garbage can. They tend to knock them down anyways and scatter the trash.

Usually the city give a warning on any violations then fines if continues, that's how it works in my city, I am unsure for all.

I live in a condo and we do not use trash cans. The trash is kept in the basement till trash day. It would get really smelly having dog poop sitting around the whole week! This is a new rule for this park . I bet people will just leave the dog poop on the ground! They're will not want it in their fancy cars! I think this new rule will back fire , and we'll end up having poop all over the park! I will really be watching were I step now! YUCKY !

My daughter and son -in- laws had a raccoon in their yard that kept getting into their trash cans! The crows and segulls get into our trash bags and made huge mess ! The dogs are not the only animals going after the trash .

Raccoons and birds, are also a major mess maker!

My cousin keeps a bungee strap over her can, to keep the coons out of her garbage. She also has it in a homemade wood frame can holders. To keep the dogs out and raccoons from tipping the cans.

The wood frame holders sound like a good idea! I will tell my daughter!
