Food Police Gone Amok in NY Schools

Here they go again with blaming the school for overweight kids.

:hmm: I have been noticing the Obama family looks thin and healthy. And I believe Mrs. Obama did an interview with Parent's magazine about child nutrition.

Yes, and she even tried planting an organic kitchen garden at the White House.

Too bad that any food companies keep making JUNK food and sell them to people!

why not? it is school's fault for contributing to obesity in children. If I recall correctly, I recall a statement from Surgeon General or some agency recommending that children to get at least 1 hr of physical activity per day. Because of budget cut and aloofness, children gets about 2 hrs of physical activity per week. :-o

and good lord.... have you seen what our schools have been feeding to our kids? :barf:

I hear she couldn't do it because of the lead in the soil. :(

oooohhhhh...... clever... it's to block out penetrating signals (cellphone, wireless signal, etc.) by a spy such as eavesdropping device in the soil.

Whose fault is it that they have budget cuts?

I thought PE was required?

What about after school activities?

well - when it comes to budget cut, the school officials decided on reducing PE activity. What did parents do? nothing. "Nobody cares"

Well, they said "Baked Sales", but they didn't mention "Fried Sales"

Didn't they? :P

Then it all goes back to neglect by the parents. :nono:

and school too. it's shameful that parents are not doing their part especially at home like rockin'robin and the school officials aka "babysitter" has to do it for them. :nono:

since our kids spend majority of their time at school, I think the schools should educate them on food.

Wonder what'd they do if Paula Dean, Rachel Ray, Bobby Flay & Emeril Lagasse showed up at those NY schools wanting to teach kids about food? Would those so called "decision makers" kick them out?

Exactly. Banning junk food from vending machines won't make a dent in the obesity problem. It actually might have a negative effect by actually promoting a good food/bad food mentality, which can lead to eating disorders.

It's already been said in the thread already, but it's the parents job to make sure the kid is eating correctly. If schools want to do something, they can put some money back in their budget and bring back physical education.

Yeah, they're trying to avoid a lawsuit from being blamed for making kids fat, yet open up another possibility of a lawsuit for making kids end up with an eating disorder. Making kids fear food would kill them faster than actually eating it.
