First Deaf Miss Louisiana Contestant - Local News Story - KTBS Shreveport
The 47th annual Miss Louisiana Pageant is this Saturday, and it will be the first time a deaf contestant takes the stage. Miss Louisiana Jazzland Andrea Sonnier was born deaf, and can hear slightly with the help of a hearing aid. Sonnier can read lips, but she also has an interpreter by her side. Sonnier says she is in this competition not just to win, but to show others with physical challenges that they can achieve anything. You can tune in to the Miss Louisiana Pageant Saturday at 8pm on our sister station KPXJ/ CW-21.
