BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - News 4 has learned that the two men who died in the fatal fire on East Delavan had special needs and were being cared for by the family of Pastor William Jackson.
The two who lost their lives are 44-year-old Jonah Mitchell and 47-year-old Steven Sally, the pastor's wife Daisy Jackson, who was not in the house at the time of the early-morning fire, said she cared for the two men as if they were her own children.
Mrs. Jackson said her husband William, 67, who is the assistant pastor of the House of Prayer Church of God and Christ Congregation at 1221 Michigan, is on life support at ECMC. She said his injuries are related to smoke from the second-floor fire. Their 12-year-old son Christopher Jackson was among those rescued from the fire, he told Senior Correspondent Rich Newberg, family and friends are praying for each other and trying to stay strong.
Both Christopher and Mrs. Jackson thanked Buffalo firefighters and the Police Officer and paramedics who assisted the surviving family members, in getting out of the burning house.
Mrs. Jackson said she is praying for the families of Jonah Mitchell and Steve Sally.
