Well, I did it... finally!

Some of you may have heard that I've been using Windows ME on my computer since 2001.

A few years later, I got a couple Windows XP CDs. I planned on backing up some files before installing Windows XP. A few months later, my old hard drive died and I never had a chance to install Windows XP.

Today, I bought a new 200 GB hard drive. I also pulled out my Windows XP CD and installed it.

Now, I'm running Windows XP!!! Whew!

Any of you still using old Windows versions? :)

Way to go VamPyroX! :bowdown: Wonder what took you so long to arrive to Windows XP when Vista just came out.

Now I bet you'll like XP better cuz it's more stable than previous Windows. Why don't you partition ur 200mb hdd into 50mb space each so You can install Win 95, Win 98, Win 2k, XP, Vista, Linux, and BeOS and dual booting it. LOL. Some people installs more than one OS on big hdd. Like 4 of Windows XP on each partition so that if one XP crashes, reboot and choose XP#2 and log in LOL. Done this before LOL.

(I'm not just being offensive, just kidding LOL)

I have old Puke Blah system (packard bell) from friend and it still have freshly installed Windows 98SE LOL. Still runs. But it's now a spider's new home under my workbench ROFL

I've thought of that, but... NAH!

I'm running a computer that's 6 years old. It's got 256 MB RAM, a CD-R drive, and 1.6 Ghz Pentium 4 processor.

That's why I picked Windows XP. It's simple. :)
 
congrat, dude ! *high five* which xp pro or xp home ? if u have xp pro, i suggest ya to get another 256 mb ram to 512mb so it would run more stable.

Nah, this is good enough for me.

The next upgrade will be with a new computer. ;)

topic point out... What do you think of new Vista Window?
 
Congrats .. You lucky that you can be fixing your computer.. Not me and will send my computer to repair a shop and charge me! :eek: :):):)

I've never really tried it out much, but have heard positive and negative comments about it. The positive is that it runs separate programs well. The negative is that there are too many bugs.

good. that is no problem. :afro:

i just know the difference between 256mb and 512mb stuffs because i had troubleshooting on my brothers slow pc with p4 2.5 ghz, 256mb and xp pro. i suggested him to get another 256mb ram. that surely gave his pc more breathing and more stable with 512mb ram.

Running XP with only 256 MB of RAM? Dude, you're killing your computer... slowly... I'm not surprised every time you try to load a program, you can get up, go to the bathroom for a pee then get a pop from the refrigerator then check the weather outside, watch some t.v. and finally it get loaded. XP is at it's best when you have 1 GB of RAM installed. I've had seen the difference between XP on a 256 MB of RAM and XP on a 1 GB and the difference is BIG. If you ever get tired of running programs that is so sluggish, install a Linux distro (Ubuntu is preferred) and use Xfce desktop environment. It will make your computer run so amazingly fast, as if you are using a 2 GHz with 1 GB worth of RAM installed on a machine. Trust me man, you're better off using Linux, not XP, on that machine. If you ever decide to install Vista on that machine, you are delivering the final blow to your computer and it probably will die on you, with a BSOD saying, "Thanks man for the deadly blow. See you on the flip side".

:rofl: That's funny tho. I've done experiment on Puke Blah system (packardbell F-170). It had 200mhz processor, 128mb EDO ram and 2.5 GB hdd. I installed XP in it. It runs! but it runs like a turtle.


I'm Ubuntu User. Glad I'm not alone! It's fast and smooth. Like she said 2Ghz w/ 1GB ram. You'll gotta to love killer Beryl desktop (3D desktop) that make M$ Vista shameful.

Not really, if running on media center, high-end games and Google Earth then 256MB RAM will be kill the computer, without 3 on list then would be survive.

Low-end PC that release with Windows XP in 2001 was 256MB RAM.
