Hi everyone,
Just wondering what peoples favorite alerting systems are?
Thanks,
*EQL*

a very very very loyal shotgun.

..... cats only get scared.

But in all honesty -the most favorite alert system is the built in system with switches in a box to allow you to pick which room to alert you to what ever the alert you want to be alerted of.

Ie: you have a door bell system, you can have that hooked up to the system to have certain lights throughout your house to flash. You don't want to be doing the good deed in the bedroom only to have the lights flash. You can set it up to make it flash in the bedroom as well if you wish.

This also applies to several other alerts you want it to work with. Pretty cool.

Do you remember the name of it? only because i am going to be purchasing one within the next year i think.

Is your pit bull a hearing dog? or just barks at anything?

Thanks,

Have to ask the electrician to install it while you have your house built... You could add it later in a house that is already built, but it will cost more. It's a hard wired system. The one I described above could run around $2000-$10000 depending on the customizations.

Other than that I am not too familiar with alert systems outside ones you can make with stuff from Radio Shack, or Sonic Alert bed alert.

I don't have a dog currently. Haven't owned one, and I want to soon. I was just being funny with the image of a pitbull attacking the door letting me know that there's a person at the door.

Maybe in a month or two I'll consider a dog. :D

Hey. No joke, pfh is right. Try looking through various catologs such as Harris Communications or Hearmore. Get an idea of what is out there. I have a super loud doorbell that flashes a light. I hope to get a better one next year. The current one is outdated. It only flashes in the hall. There are door mats that cause a light to flash, signalling door bells, bed shakers and lots of other stuff. Once you get an idea of what you would like to use, try Amazon and Ebay and other such places.
Good luck!
I do have a dog. She will not only run to the door, but comes back and puts her paws in my lap and looks into my face. She is my friend and I think she is my fave. Mind you, a doorbell system is far less expensive than a pet. I trained her myself.

Hi all,
I have looked through the catalogs. Since there are quite a few options this is why I'm asking for opinions. I don't want to spend lots of money for something that I won't like.
Thanks,

Heyya, all joking aside (well, wasn't kidding about the dog, but... you're asking for help here), it depends on how many rooms you have and such-- and if your kitchen is considered as a separate room... your bathroom and so on.

When I lived in a bachelor's suite and in dorm, the Ameriphone Alertmaster was sufficient enough for me, however when I moved into one- and two-bedroom places, it became a problem with hearing roommates (first time around it was fine, second-time... ha to make do, but this time around... it's something that need to be addressed.)

I really do recommend looking through that catalog to find one that best fit your needs. It helped me.

You may get info on some signaling equipment on Harris Communications.
Harris Communications Equipment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People Products for Deaf People, Hard of Hearing People, Sign Language Books

I work for Harris to become authorized dealer.

Cool,
This is good to know. I am a System Administrator on call 24x7 all year round. The company issues us World Edition Blackberries but in the last 5 months I could not here the loudest ring when I got called or paged. I thought I was going to lose my job since this is a big part of it. After looking online at lots of dealers and going to local dealers and Maine Defeness Center as well as ALDA-no one could help me. I called Harris and told the I was looking for something that would amplify or trigger a bed shaker when my BB goes off.

The woman I spoke with new exactly what I was looking for-a Sonic Super Shaker and a Serene Innovations RF-110 Superload Cell/Phone Ringer/Flasher/Shaker. The best $100 bucks I ever spent and I never miss a call while sleeping now. (Boy do I sound like a salesman). I even have two other methods of waking me up now.
