Facebook Tracks You Even After Logging Out

I'm about ready to delete my FB account.
It's not the same service as it was when it started.

So does Google.

I want to chuck Facebook out the window, but so many local deafies I know are on Facebook. And they use the Book of Face. A lot.

FB at least at first was useful. I was able to connect to family members that I don't see much or in general it was fun to know what others in my family were doing, thinking...but now after all of us (family) have gotten used to FB I find that we don't comment much anymore on each others posts or visit each others walls and the point of FB at least for me was to keep in touch. Since the newness has worn off-it's taken a good two years for it to, it's pointless to use now. At least to me.

However, I'm more concerned with my privacy being breached. My FB page is only for family but several times during FBs "upgrade" my settings were changed to public and it's not for my co-workers to see or the entire world. I have a big issue with that.
If they keep it up I'm gone for good.

I like it still. It connects me to everyone. I wouldn't be able to keep in touch so easily otherwise.

I am not a fan of what facebook has became. I use to use it all the time to connect with family and friends, but now I just get more and more angry evreytime I sign on. ..I hate all the new features and just plain everything about it now! :(

I wonder if your FB account can be truly deleted.

Sad part is that FB is really all about the $$$$$$$$$ just like everything else.

I've done housekeeping on my status updates over the years, and I wonder how much Facebook actually keeps, even though I "deleted" the status updates.

One way to find out might be to download the archive of your profile, which you can do. If the old status updates are still there, you have your answer; Facebook keeps everything.

Yeah, I hate fighting with FB over my privacy settings. I've found out that they've opened everything up too.

It's insulting, actually, that they show so little respect to their users. I wouldn't put up with this from any other business... why should I put up with it from Facebook?
