Now this where you are wrong numbers 3 and 5 are totally untrue and totally uncalled for. I had hearing aids for over 20 years and was still very much a part of deaf culture and the deaf communtity.

Any device allowing someone to hear, I dont care what it is, will not separate us from our culture, heritage, or communtity! Only a person's attitude will do that.

Even if i get a Ci, I will remain a part of the communitity and culture. Let's put the age old arguement where it really stands.

Some of us, including myself I will add is against implanting children. If you truly believe a CI will keep you from the culture or communitity you are mistaken. Only a parent of a child can do that and that is only until the child is old enough to find out there is such a communtity.

Keep these arguments away from the DEVICES as a whole cause it simply doesnt work that way.

he is meaning that people should use literacy if its available to them. And literacy is not an end result but an option to use and many use literacy everyday to communicate. If this doesn't answer that then gnu will answer it when he can. Children may not acquire a lot but they pickup a lot from their peers.

And this is EXACTLY my point too. Some CIers are still involved with the Deaf Culture, but many have this attitude problem about it (they may go in and say "It's so great to hear!" and throw it in their faces...be very snobby...etc...)

I wondered if you are alcohlic??? My late husband went through 12 step.... and I was proud of him... He was hearing... I miss him very much..
