so my man, kelly slater was in a bar, minding his own business having a drink, when a self proclaimed Born again Christian starts talking to him and saying how kelly should be a christian. no, im not too sure what religion kelly is. he looks like he might be a buddhist but i dont know. anyway. Kelly is like thats nice that ur a born again christian but i dont want anything to do with it. now, kelly has no problem with any religion. he just wants to believe what he wants to believe. and i feel the same way. now why are u christians ( im not saying ALL christians) but why do most christians feel they have to "save" people. why cant they just leave people alone and let them believe what they want. u worry about you, and let others worry about themselves.

Interrupting a person's privacy like that is pretty rude. This may be just me, but I think one provides a more effective witness by showing respect for things like privacy, and by conducting oneself in a kind manner--it not only defeats the purpose of witnessing to be intrusive or rude, but I actually think one can make a case for that behavior being un-Biblical. I would rather hope that being like this will get somebody curious and willing to ask questions of their own about why I do the things I do. NOT that I'm a perfect example by any means, though. But I've occasionally had that happen. And I can also back up the "teach by example" thing Biblically as well. Unlike what SOME would claim, this approach is NOT me reneging on my "responsibilities".

I'm sorry I have to say this... he's fawking gorgeous... the eyes! *screams*

 I'm with you on that one.

This reminds me of a quote I read the other day: "It's none of your business who goes to hell!"

I agree.

People shouldn't be doing that to others like that. If religious people want to prove themselves as part of a "respectable group", then they should show it.

I hate it when people answer every question with "God can help you" or "The answer is in the Bible." Well, that's bullshit. Sorry for the swearing... but the Bible doesn't have answers for everything. There are infinite questions... and there is no way that the Bible has infinite answers.

My parents are extremely religious and claim to know the Bible very well. Yet, when I ask them questions and expect a REAL answer... they are speechless.

I have a life of my own. I don't need people interupting my conversations with religious comments or telling me that God has an answer for everything. If I want to talk about God, then I'll do it myself.

I don't think the Bible was ever intended to give exact answers for anything. That defeats the purpose of the free will we were specifically given. So I think its role is more to provide a set of guidelines, principles, and examples that we can put to use if we think about it. The thing is this can require interpretation and critical thinking about situations, and that's where people can get themselves into trouble by taking things out of context, seeing what they want to see, etc. Um...sorry for the rant; I just saw something thought-provoking and felt like taking a shot at it. ;)
