Escaped Python Strangles Toddler

not just that.

Hurricane Andrew leveled many Florida pets shops. small snakes escaped to the Everglades. Those snake are thriving in that habitat. a news program a few weeks ago mentioned there is estimated to be at least 150,000 Reticulated Pythons loose in the Florida Everglades....

also Nile Monitors are loose in the Everglades from that hurricane

Also, along these same lines...

The Miami Zoo was also damaged when Andrew came thru. Snakes were able to escape from damaged enclosures and then they made their way into the 'glades. Once there, they thrived.

fortunately Florida isn't dealing with escaped jaguars and big cats as well

and the gators have only been there millions of years before people. how dare they invade 'burbs, when there swamp lands are getting smaller. who'd a thunk dat

Crazy, ain't it?

But, you would be right about that!

Mainland Florida has alot of gater attacks. They swim up into canals where people fish or go swimming.

 I really hate any kind of snakes! It make me so sad for little girl! :(

Wow, as a parent I can only imagine the sheer pain they feel, both parents.

I do think the parents should have been more careful but I don't feel like it was done on purpose.

Do you really want some people to go to jail with the vague details the article gave?
It could have all been a honest mistake and accident, and a very high chance at that.

I agree with Naisho, it seems like a horrible horrible accident. I am sure the parents will never be the same. I hope anyone that owns a snake and has small children will take this into consideration.

I don't hate snakes, but I don't think they should be kept as pets either.
