eeling a part of the community is an important aspect of any faith, but for members of the church whose hearing is compromised, being fully involved can be difficult.

That's why the Diocese of Erie planned a special retreat for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The retreat, called "Knowing and Doing God's Will", preached a message of identifying individual gifts, and using them to benefit the community.

It included mass and a lunch before the afternoon retreat session for sharing and reflection, and concluded with a dinner.

Father Tom Coughlin was the first deaf priest in North America, and he traveled from San Antonio, Texas to be a part of the experience at Blessed Sacrament Church.

He signed the mass along with another priest who said the mass, and he signed the homily, with an interpreter speaking along.

Father Coughlin's hearing presented challenges on his journey to becoming a priest, but overcoming the obstacles fueled his passion to help others in his position.

He's traveled the country as a missionary, and he founded a seminary for men with hearing loss who wanted to become priests.

There are now ten deaf priests in the country, speaking the word of God in a new way.

This priest was in Houston at St.Domick Deaf Catholic Church. The best and nicest thing I can say about him is that he is a strong follower of the Catholic Church, he bleeds Rome, but he had not got a clue where it comes to knowing what the Bible says.

there deaf priest in uk somewhere he has terp with him for mass, from what i seen he good man

Oh yes, he was seen as good man by the by the deaf community of Houston, mostly because he signed the church services and out in public communication. However, for the most part, the deaf catholics have never turn the page if a bible. That is why he had a following, I think this is the same no matter where he is stationed. However, he could easily be challenged (and he would lose) by those who do know the bible.

Hey, no religion threads are allowed here.

I'm not speaking of religion, because the bible had no religion it is a book.
I'm speaking on knowledge. Would it not be the same if the book was a math book and I said: He can be challenged, and he would lose, on his math solutions?

BTW: sorry I did not get a chance to answer your question in the closed thread
I don't think it is allowed for me to answer that question on this thread

X2 with Paul, If I cannot talk against Religion here you cannot discuss or post events promoting religion!!

How is discussing someones knowledge, or lack of knowledge, about a book promoting a religion?

From reading the OP, we are talking about the same person. Yes, he was in Houston and in San Antonio.
