the repos are licensed professionals... with proper equipments to do the jobs.... legally

but we're not talking about repos... we're talking about a car thief. do repo use a trailer?

He could watch too much Operation Repo TV shows...

The whole point is that the idea of new license plate will NOT stop from anyone doing illegally, its not limited to thieves, applies those who didn't pay for insurance, failed to renew registration, and so on. You see, I have more than one vehicles, and if I don't want to pay insurance, I could swap the license plate easily, I could even use my friend's vehicle plate to cover up. How can this new technology going to stop me?

The idea here was this is just a joke! It only gets the situation bigger and more complicated. This ideas only gives these violators a lee away and the rest of us who is honest and don't cheat the system end up paying for this.

We haven't stood in a long DMV line in years. We get our renewed tags by mail. The only time we go to DMV in person is if we buy a new vehicle or want specialty tags.

We have no tolls.

Not just for everyone who have checks and go to DMV pay renewed tags with cash which it really sad. We use mail anything.

diehardbiker live in NY and he should have tolls around and he don't like any idea of technology which why I asked him if he still toss the coin in the toll?

Ur funny! I rarely use Thruway. There is many ways to go without going though tolls, xcept if your in NYC.

For example if I want to go to Buffalo, there is route 104 to get there and its right up there near my home. Same if I want go to Syracuse though rt 104, I could use 390 to go south into PA.

How do you think these doing repos the cars doing for the living? They don't always ask for keys, if owners refused to give keys or can't be found and they still CAN take the car away easy.

You missed my point. Real repos use towing truck, not trailer. Do you really believe thief move vehicles to the trailer without key? I don't believe it.

I already explained.

Can you shift it to neutral without a key or remote? Think again.

For towing? Don't need put vehicles in the neutral. Most towing use winch to pull vehicles even semi-truck.

Does not matter where park, or even locked, Forklift CAN pull any cars out and throw in enclosed trailer in... how long? 1 or 2 minutes flat. I have seen it done and man! its FAST!

I don't care if you seen it or not. Don't mean theft would carry forklift with them all times and it won't fit most enclosed trailer due height.

Really pointless, many newer cars have transponder keys, do you know what that is? Since my truck uses that, and if you copy my keys and try to start my truck, it won't work. Because my keys have built in chipset where it communicates with vehicle computer. Once match is made, it will let me start the engine.

Professional car thieves don't just get in car and drive away. Usually they will move it into enclosed trailer and take the plate out and disappear leaving brand new license plate technology useless.

I just saw on the news not that long ago that new cars where getting stolen.

Does not matter, the whole point is that the license plate itself getting technology facelift will not going to make any difference and will not impact anything except extra expenses that we all have to fork. Perhaps short term yeah, until crooks start to use their head once again how to get around this BS.

Know what? There is no bucket at toll booth (Near my home)* to collect coins. Its long ago phased out. Aren't you getting old?

*No idea about NYC if they still using that system.

You still toss the coins in the toll?

The last time was, hmmmm Spring of 2006 and I didn't throw coin and I was out of coin, and no license plate and temporary transit permit tucked in my pocket. That was when I bought my bike in Chicago and rode to my home here in NY. There was no way for me to pay the toll so hell with it.

See, You should have EZ pass and it's a lot easy than toss a coin.

Meh! I already have couple of EZ pass.

Bottom line, is it really necessary for fancy high tech license plate? And who is gonna pay for it? Don't paint me like a criminals.

But you said.

LOL, another attempt in controlling society from our own government? I don't think this is gonna work cause criminals will figure a way to cover up. Gee too much technology dependent already! Sad!

Wow! You actually heard nothing about EZ pass? Yes, there has been problems with them, there are millions of unpaid toll and fines. And what GPS got to offer for hackers? NADA Nothing zip whatever.

Never assume there isn't any issues with technologies.

You made too much negative about technologies and you use EZ pass.

In my area of South Carolina all tow trucks for cars, vans, small trucks and motorcycles are flat beds. The only time the old-style tow trucks are used are for big vehicles, like buses and semi trucks. It's been that way for years.

Maybe old-style tow trucks replaced with heavy duty tow trucks for semi-truck.
