Hey guys,

First, my suv brakes are doing fine for now, has has 6mm life left, when it is time, I'd like to consider getting "high performance" EBC rotors and pads. I hear a lot of very positive results from many feedbacks.

I wonder if any of you have installed EBC brakes in your vehicle and what is your experience on those products?

I have heard of EBC brake pads and I almost bought it for my motorcycle but I decided to stick with stock version. Yes EBC brake pads are for real and it works as advertised however I stick with stock version. Why? because performance brake pads wear out faster than stock version. Beside - BMW stock brake is more than good enough for me as BMW is famous for its short braking distance and cornering.

If you shit money, why not?
If you are overly-concerned with safety, why not?
If your SUV brake pads are extremely mediocre, why not?

if I were you, Id stick with the factory brake pads unless I was caught stuffing the Explorer with a hipo 429 Super Cobra Jet motor in it, then its time to upgrade to EBC or Baer Claw brake pads and rotors lol.

:hmm: my current brakes are stock and it works just fine, and I'm just researching to see the feedbacks out there. :)

there you go. better stick with stock version unless it's giving you a problem such as unacceptable braking distance by your standard.

I ve been installed EBC pads (customer supplied) in a Ford Escape, drove it for brake pads break in procedure, feel almost same brake distance. Ive not heard from a customer's complaint.

BMW is incredible short brake distance as MBZ. Interestly, the rotors on a Beemer or MBZ are wearing too fast than the pads or both. You can spot the heavy grooves or scores on the surfaces of the rotors. Normal nothing wrong with them but if the brake lining warning light come on that mean the brakes need service. If replace pads then rotors must be discard, cant turn on the lathe cuz the rotors were heat treated and harden impossible to remachine. You can slap the new pads in the calipers without replace rotors.
The pads are made of black carbon material ( im not exact what kind of materials do they made of) If the aftermarketed rotors (un heat treated) on the German cars, can be remachine on the lathe.
You know that the German cars's brakes are very loud when heavy brake at high speed. Normal. I remmby I replaced 2 front drilled cross spots rotors and pads on a MBZ AMG, the rotors cost $360 each. Big rotor abt 13 or 14 inch diameter. I wish I have a MBZ AMG. No money LOL
