I am not a very religious person, go to Church time to time....
My adopted boys attend Church almost every Sunday, and I'm proud of that, because they want to, not because I require it.
I decided to attend with the boys on Easter Sunday. After services, we ate dinner, then went to the park. Good day!
We stopped by a friend's house afterwards, and the subject of my daughter came up, as I had not seen her for a very, very, very long time! She is a drug/alcohol addict, many years, in and out of rehab, nothing worked with her!
My friend got a call (phone)...and a look of surprise was upon his face!. He asked me to please wait at his home for a few minutes, that he had to go pick up someone from the airport.
When he came back, my daughter walked in.
It was a very emotional and happy reunion! She did not look very well, very underweight, but at least she was alive! She had been in Arizona.
I had just as much "given up on her" all these years! And finally she admitted, "I'm an alcoholic"! And wants HELP!
My heart has been really heavy with grief all these years! I continued on, the best I knew how! Never giving up "hope". And "hope" came back Easter Day!
I will attend AA with her....something I did not do before. Pick her up when she relapses, give her soft and supporting encouragement, as before, I was very angry with her that she was just throwing her life away! And could not "understand" why her life was the BOTTLE!
And yes, I'll continue to go to Church for the spiritual guidance it will afford me. I consider this to be my "Easter Miracle"! Not something that just happened "out of the blue"!
Thanks for reading!
