I remember back in 2003, I got a Border book store gift card from my girlfriend at the time. It was my birthday gift. I decided that I wanted to use it. I invited her along. She was upset that I didn't want to share it with her. I didn't have to share it with her. I mean, it's silly to buy gift card. See, you have the gift card I got for you. Now buy something for me. That doesn't seem right.
Over the weekend, one of our friends gave me a gift card to a local ice cream place. I was happy to use it on my current girlfriend. See, someone got me a gift card. I'm happy to share with my girlfriend.

I am like a kid in a candy store with a bookstore gift card. In fact, when people *ask* me what I might like, for BD, Christmas, etc., that's always my response. I don't want restaurant gift cards or dept. store gift cards or some gift I'll never use. Just gift cards to get books/movies. To me, that's personal if a person really knows me and wants to get me something I will definitely want and use.
Share a restaurant gift card, etc., sure, like the ice cream gift card. Makes sense. But books? Nope, nope, nope! :P
