It does not matter what organization is. Let's say that an organization needs $4,000 to reach their goal. They've only got $100 donation so far. That means they're $3,900 short of their goal. You're trying to decide on whether you want to donate $25 to help them go towards their goal. Do you figure that perhaps they're way too far from their goal? Maybe your amount will not reach the goal and will mean nothing to them.
What if they have already gotten $3,000 in donation? They're only $1K short of their goal. Would that make you more likely to donate if you see that they're close to their goal?
