I have a problem with my puppy. Sheba is 6 months old, and she is mixed with German shepherd and beagle.

Four days ago, my uncle took my two dogs to a park. On a busy road, Sheba loves to look out of the window and smell in the air. Somehow, she lost her balance that got out of the window. I am so upset that he forgot to close the windows or half windows. My dog landed and hit on the road from the car window.

My vet said that her pawn nerves are damaged, and the bones are stable. She cannot walk it, but she able to walk with three legs. Do you have a dog similar this problem?

I need to find someone who knows how to heal the nerves instead amputating her leg. I refused to have her leg removed...

Poor dog!! Take her to another Vet for more option!

If last resort of the leg amputation - The three legged dogs can lead a good life! At least your dog is safe and sound! Hope your uncle will pay the medical expense! Your pup is soo cute --

i would suggest that you ask around any nearby veternarian university. they may be able to help you . I am so sorry to hear about your dog. My do slit his back paw open on a hidden tin on one of our walk last spring. It took 10 stitches and a whopping $400. bill.

Awwww cute dog!! Try different vet for another opinion. If its the same--amputate the paw/leg then go ahead. Ive seen on tv that 3 legged dogs do just as well as 4 legged. Also try get pet insurance--look it up on internet.

Since her paw's nerve is damaged .. be sure there is no sign of infection or anything ... She may cut or injury its paw by accident or even chew it too! Her damaged paw may not have any feelings - like a numb! Good luck ..

Ok. I just made an appointment tomorrow to see a different vet for a 2nd option. It is one hour of driving. I better bring my dog's x-rays. I hope that a new vet would say that it will not be a 1st choice for the amputation.

Two days ago, I learned that my vet gave a shot for my dog to reduce the pain after the accident. This chemcial from the shot stays three months, and it also stops the nerves to grow until the chemical wears out. (The nerves are trying to reconnect to other nerve, but they cannot because of the painkiller shot.) I didn't know that. My uncle said to the vet to go ahead for the shot without thinking twice or to get a second option.

My dog's leg muscle is beginning to weak because the nerves are slowly dying, and it will affect the upper nerves toward to her spine. (In other words, the dead nerves will start to deteriorate the good nerves from paw to spine.) Tomorrow, we see another vet for the 2nd option - to prevent this happen soon as possible. Suppose no cure as the last resort then she would lose one leg. I hate it.

My mother called several important vets in some states such as Texas, Illinois, and etc. They have the nerve cure from what I found on google (i.e. ScienceDaily: Purdue Research Offers Hope For Canine, Human Spinal Injuries. They cannot answer it because they are waiting for the approval from the Patent Company. They are jerk!
