Do you notice the price difference before and after world fianance crisis?

You noticed that too?!

It usually is $7.00 for us but now is around $10.00 ! Coffee isn't cheap either!

That's sucks... :(

Yeah! That's right. Lielbing's thread and asked if we notice about before and after world finance crisis and economy crisis.

The large eggs used to be 87 cent at Walmart. Now it's 1.78. The milk gallon used to be 2.19. Now it's 3.49.

Geez... Maybe someday more people will go for food bank... :(

I remember a block of cheese used to be $6 to $8 dollars in New Zealand.

Now, it about $13 to $15 dollars from what my family told me few weeks ago.

last year bread at the Walfart (Generic white 1 lb loaf sandwich) cost me like what 80 to 90 cents I'm sure. Now that same loaf of bread is $1.16. whooa

The gas prices have gone down, but the other prices have gone up but I doubt they will go down as the retailers will have to keep it at the present level to make up for losses associated with the transportation costs especially those insane fuel surcharges the trucking company adds to the BOL's.

Trust me cuz I work at a warehouse and I can tell how much the fuel surcharges are totally screwing the company over and under. The surcharges add to like what 15% to 20% of the final price of the product ranging from food to clothes to TV's. So I see no way the prices will be coming down in the short term.

yeah, the food prices are shocking high around here...it's really sad. :( A gallon milk would cost average of $3 or so. A dozen carton of eggs around $1.50 or so and $3+ for brown eggs. you couldn't find a good quality wheat bread for under $2 for a loaf. The best bet is go to grocery outlet or a huge discount 24 hour grocery store to get best out of the food prices. Sometimes, people have no choice, though.

A friend and I sat down and figured this out the other day after having gone to the grocery. I purchased a package of smoked pork hocks to use as seasoning in cooking beans. Four months ago, the price was 1.27. On Saturday, I paid $4.24 for the same amount. That is over a 300% increase in the price. Some food items have not increased at this drastic a rate, some have increased even more than 300%. Our gasoline has gone down to $1.76 a gallon as of this morning, but heating fuels have not decreased at all. My nephew paid over $1000.00 last week to have his propane tank filled, and he will be lucky if that lasts all winter.

Don't you know that Europeans have cars? Of course the cars need gas... Without gas, we can't drive... Right?

Wrong. My parents went to Europe very recently, specifically England and France. They saw millions of cars and they even rented a couple. Not ONE car they saw or drove ran on gasoline. Its not that hard to figure out.

:ty: for share interesting posts...

Before world fianance crisis, some foods and drink prices goes up and up on each month until world finance crisis came, then some foods and drink prices go 20% to 30% low again but stationery items like papers, pens, ink, etc. go up...

Gasoline and heating oil goes low more and more to 50% now......

We (friends) talked about those issues and beleive the reason why they reduce the prices for foods and drink is because of cars... We believe that Government want us to buy new cars to save their carmaker companies from bankrupties... ??? Government did offer their suggest to free tax for 2 years if we buy new car... I think it would be different story IF carmaker companies agree to offer 50% discount for us to buy new cars to save their bankrupty?

In the moment Government are thinking about bail out some carmaker companies to save their bankrupties and unemployment....???? Their decision will be annonnce next month... :hmm:

OK, I never said anything about retailers. I said I didn't think Europeans use gasoline much anymore. I also said my parents saw a lot of cars that do not use gasoline. The only thing your last post told me is that its as hard to find petrol there as it is to find diesel here, but according to your link, my point is correct; diesel is much more common.

No, diesel and gasoline (petrol) are NOT the same thing.

Apparently, Europe is far ahead of America when it comes to economics. Diesel is cheaper, taxed cheaper, and gets better gas mileage.

I know now what you are talking about... At first I thought you said that there're no gasoline in Europe.

Yes, we have 5 different gasonline here in Germany... but we still call it as "gasonline" in American langague, "petrol" in British language and "Benzin" German language...

Bio Gas (start few years ago).
Diesel
Normal Bleifrei Benzin (normal unleaded gas/petrol)
Super Bleifrei Benzin (super unleaded gas/petrol)
Super Benzin (just gasonline/petrol - bad for enivornment for old cars... very expensive - double prices)...

Bio Gas price is 10 cents cheaper than Diesel... Mine is Super Bleifrei Benzin... (same price as Normal - around 5 cents expensive than Diesel).

The taxed and gasonline for Super Benzin (gasonline) is 3 times higher than all list... but diesel's annual tax is also high than Normal and Super Bleifrei Benzin.

We get very low tax and insurance per annual for one to three years old car because of support environment-friendly.

In England and many EU countries, there're 3 gasonline... Diesel and 2 normal and super petrol (gasonline).

Any question?
