If you are the only deaf at your job, do you get treated differently? If so, how?
At my last job, the last 3 years has been miserable, but I won't go into much details but there was this big issue that pizzed me off.
I feel that I was often being singled out if I talk to other co-workers especially when it's work-related. The boss (big power trip) tells me to get back to work or emails me to tell me not to talk. :madfawk:
I felt it was ok for other co workers (all hearing and I was only deaf there) to chat regardless if it was work related or not, but it was not ok for me. UGH!
That is one of a million reasons that I quit my job and am at a much better employment where they are reallllly good with deafies. There are a few deafies working here and they always provide interpreters.
My previous employer never got me an interpreter and always had one coworker write for me. Refused to get me an inteprreter for the WORD class back in 1999 when we went to a new computer system. :bsflag:
Glad to be out of there!
