Baptist is the name of the church. It appeared in about 1500's. Christian means a person who believed in Jesus Christ and received Him as personal Savior.

If the Christian refers to the church, yes, it does. Christian and Baptist are ALMOST identical dues to their theology, belief and practices.

Oh boy! You all went way off topic from the topic of this thread.

The Baptist people believe the baptism is only a immerse mode and nothing else. Well, I learned about deep thing with baptism mode from Yesterday. The baptism meant to be sparking (sp?), dip, and pour.

Baptizo in Greek is Baptism or Baptize.

The bible have not mentioned the immerse mode with baptizo word. Many people misunderstood the word with baptizo is a immerse mode only because they learned the classic Greek’s definition. They did not look in the Bible’s definition with the baptizo word in the bible from Greek time. Does it make sense, The Moses baptize the people with the water and the cloud. The Moses immerses the people with the water and the cloud. Should it mean The Moses immerses the people in the water and cloud? Well, the bible said with and not in. If you don’t understand my explaining then I am willing to explain much more deeper about the word with baptizo in Greek.

Conlcusion: Baptist and Christian is same thing. Only the different between Baptist, Reformed, Methodist, Church of Christ, or Christ of Church and they have different view on the faith with Jesus Christ, Teaching, and view on the word of the baptizo.

A Baptist person is a born-again Christian who has joined a Baptist church.

A Christian person is a born-again believer who can be a Baptist, or a member of another church, or not a member of any church. Being a born-again Christian is a one-to-one relationship with Jesus Christ. It is not a church membership.

I think you are meaning "sprinkling", correct?

You are correct that Baptists believe the biblical way to baptize is thru total immersion. That means completely dunking the person under water, then raising up again.

Here is the other difference. Baptists do not baptize babies. We believe that a person must be saved (born-again, accept Jesus as Savior) first. Then the person is baptized to show public obedience to the Lord. Baptism does NOT wash away sins or save a person's soul.

You were right the first time. :) Christians do not believe in divorce. Some Christian churches allow remarriage by divorced people but some do not. It depends on each church.

I think Baptists follow John the Baptist... They do a lot of baptizing...
putting people in water.

When I was a Methodist,,, Methodists don't put people in water...
they just sprinkle water over my head. A person devoted to or laying great stress on method

And Catholic... I think they just follow the Disciples and Saints.

And Lutheran, they follow the guy named Martin Luther who was a monk
and then he married and had children.

Mormon, they follow Joseph Smith in 1830.

Anglican, I think they believe in Angels....

Presbyterian, I think they follow the clergy

Pentecostal, they believe in healing and spiritual

Orthodox, they believe in political and conservative religious.

Evangelical, agree with the new testament, 4 gospels.

That is all I know.

Not always! BBF (Baptist Bible Fellowship) does. GARBC (General Association of Regular Baptist Church) does not. BBF believes Baptists gone back to John the Baptist. GARBC believes Baptists gone back to the history of church because it appeared in 1500's. See the difference.

"Anglican" doesn't mean angels. It means it was originally part of the Church of England. The colonized branches of that church became Anglican or Episcopal churches in North America, Australia, and other English colonies. (a very brief, shallow description)

Baptists follow Jesus Christ, not John the Baptist.

Oh I see...

I just wish the church service wasn't so long.

I went to the church in California,,, and
we all sing....
and then the minister preach for few minutes...
Their church service was like an hour.
I like that. But they have Bible Study on Wednesday
and other activities. This church has no interpreters

But my church, in Memphis, they have
church service from 11 am to 2 pm.
I can't stand to sit that long... and stand up
so long. My church got interpreters.

And it seems that the Catholics church service is like an hour...
they sing, put money in baskets, and eat crackers and drink juice.

Why?

Liberal Baptists VS Conservative Baptists -- You see the problem between them. Liberal Baptists are too liberal because they ignore the Biblical standard. Do they follow Jesus Christ? Some Conservative Baptists are good because they follow the Biblical standard. They follow Jesus Christ. But NOT all conservative Baptists because they are over-stricted not to follow what the Bible ACTUALLY say. For example, they require all people under their church to follow their ABSURD rules. No sports for youth. Man and woman must separate by 12 inches away. No regular? And more. Do they follow Jesus Christ?

Some Batpists do pentcoastal practices -- unknown tongues.

I am a Presbyterian or Reformed Christian. I cannot say that the Liberal Christian is the Christian because they are conflicting with the Bible. Bible has the high standard and the Liberal Christian is not doing the high standard from the Bible. I do not understand why the Liberal Christian allows gay and lesbian and the Bible said no homosexual. Can you call the Liberal Christian as a Christian? I don't know with that situation.

Anyway,
I agree with you Askjo.

It is same thing with the Independent-Baptist. I visited Bob Jone's University in S.C. last few weeks. I was surprised how the Independent-Baptist wore the clothes. I asked them and where the Bible said that you have to dress like that? They cannot answer it. They are doing higher standard than the Bible’s standard. The Independent-Baptist men can’t have long hairs. There are too many rules that are unnecessary in the Independent-Baptist church. Well, at least they have faith on Jesus Christ and that is good.
