SUGAR LAND, Texas -- A mother fatally shot her 18-month-old daughter and then turned the gun on herself in their Sugar Land home Friday afternoon, deputies told KPRC Local 2.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department said the two bodies were found in the 2400 block of Padgett Court at about 2:30 p.m.
Deputies said the husband was outside cutting the grass for about an hour when he went inside and found his wife's and daughter's bodies in an upstairs bathroom.
Both bodies were inside the tub, which did not have any water in it. A 45-caliber handgun was nearby.
The husband told deputies that the wife had been suffering from depression and emotional issues, but seemed to be better lately.
"He just said she has been seen for some problems to do with emotions, some things like that, but she had been doing well, lately, though, so he's not sure what was going on today, specifically. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary," said Chief Deputy Craig Brady with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
The names were not released.
