I know I don't post often, but I had to give my opinion on this. I voted Other because there was no "Yes, keep it like it is". In regards to age verification, the only way to verify age on the internet is to require a credit card, and I personally will not give my credit card info to any age verification system because I believe most are shady. Also, a lot of people dont have credit cards even though they are over 18/21, so all this would do is anger people.

This is an open forum available to anyone. If a parent doesn't want their child reading that stuff, then it's the parents' responsibility to keep them from reading it. You say you can't watch the child all the time, then use Cybersitter or one of many other programs for censoring them. I don't have any children right now, but I know when I do, I will be completely open with them and hope they know that any questions about sex or drugs and stuff, they should feel free to talk with me about.

One of biggest problems in this world is parents dont take responsibilty for their kids, and ruining things for open minded people due to laziness on own part is just not right.

I say leave it like it is, if you don't like it, it's your responsibility to censor on your computer, not censor the forum itself from others.

I have not come in here as often as I like to for several reasons.

But I need to share something here that I have NOT notice anyone thought of this part ~~

In the past, have you ever seen a nude picture along the roads, railroads, or in woods? Did you get any picture that shows the couple was having sex? How did you feel when you first saw that picture? Did it excite you? Did it make you sick? Didn’t you know what it was?

I remember when I first saw the picture; honestly I say that it did excite me in the past because it was something I could get without my parent knowing that I found pictures of nude or sex. Looking back, I wish I never did. That goes for my brother who wish he NEVER saw any of the pictures because he said during his puberty was the worst time to see those pictures and having wet dreams or wet bed. He hates it.

So can you imagine how children under age see those pictures even if it not nude or sex, but sexual pictures. I feel bad for them including the parents who does watch them or does not watch them. It is impossible to be 100000% to protect or catch them doing it. It was impossible for my parent to catch me; therefore, it is much harder to catch children now days since computer is everywhere like library, friends house, and so forth. (I did catch my older one surfing on porn while he was at his friend’s house and he was surprised to see that I KNEW! I told him I have eyes everywhere – hoping to scare him even more, ha ha! Since he did not do anymore because he knows the result of what would happen if he did it again)

I talked about sex with my kids. I am very open for my kids so that they can ask me or talk with me about sexual stuff. My older one has and he is in teens. I would love for my son to be part of this forum because he feels he is part of deaf culture. He would always tease deaf people that he is deaf, but he isn’t. For those who do not know my son would think he is deaf. He loves to share news or information with deaf people. I would love to have him be part of this forum because he has some favorite topics on this forum like games.

But as for simpleman had said, watch him. How can I ? You have not experience this yet with children and should watch what you say because I remember in the past that I would say something to other people that I wouldn’t do that. Ha ha ah aha! What a fool am I! Because I do the same or it was impossible to protect your children from something.

Simpleman, you are correct that if parent does not want their children reading that stuff, then it is my responsible to keep them from reading it. Let me ask you this, how can I if they are at their friend’s house? Or at the library? Children tend to find a way, as I am sure you have in the past, have you?
Cybersitter, how does that work?
Censoring, how does that work?
Have you think about this part ~ ~ ~ Children are much smarter than parents when it comes to technology. Unbelievable because I knew a lot while my older son didn’t. Later in few years ~ Whoa, guess who knew more? That right, my older son. Just wait until you have your kids. (yes, uh oh! *wink*)

I agree with you. Parents should be open with their children, but many are scared or afraid to or don’t know how to discuss this stuff with their children. My mom never shared anything like that with me, as my dad said this once “don’t ever play around with the boys”. I never knew what he meant until I got older. I fought to learn to be open with my boys and I am a proud single mother!

I total agree with you about this world does not take responsible for their children.

There is one thing I know how to block the internet so that they MUST ASK me if they can get on internet so I know what they are into it or check the history to catch them. That is the only way I know how at this time. I wish I could do censor because that would help more, but HOW?

As for smilies, they fit better in Adult forum if I want to share this forum with my children, but I won't, since it is not suit for children. Again, few people have mention this, parent should watch their children and I am. I am not allowing my children to get on this forum. SAD that my older son can't be part of this.

You're probably right, Tousi, but it never hurts to reaffirm what we would like to see on the forum.

Btw, I voted to keep the penisarium forum, but add a password to it. Personally, I don't care if a PW is added or not. However, it never hurts to have an extra safegaurd to keep out kids. :shrug:
